tothelastbreath and
looseleafbook,
alma_karma whenever they get around to kidnapping him in the name of good grooming habits, and maybe
promisedlotus if he's cool with getting a haircut.
When: July 11th
Where: Nesreca apartments
Rating: DANDELIONS AND PUPPIES until Kanda opens his mouth.
Summary: Just a bunch of boys cutting each other's hair, with or without permission. What can go wrong, seriously. Also, action spam format. Aaaaall the action spam.
[Truth is, Allen doesn't really care if his hair gets cut or not.
Truth is, Nesreca has this hideous way of encouraging him not to care very much about most things pertaining to himself.
What he does care about, however, is making good on his verbal promise to Lavi, especially after circumstances have caused him to fall short of keeping the previous one. So when late morning finally rolls around, he splashes some water on his face in an attempt to wash away the fatigue, tries on a smile in a grimy window pane (stretch it, hold it, steady now), and makes his way to room 905 with the pair of surgical scissors they'd found all those weeks ago.]
Lavi? [ Knock knock. ] Are you up?

Lavi? [ Knock knock. ] Are you up?
2/2
Ah, I didn't... Think of that. [ but he perks soon enough, sounding hopeful ] We should try, see if it helps any.
[Every new avenue is an appreciated one when you don't have many to begin with. A way out over the water, perhaps? At least a new source of food?]
[ settling back down and reminding himself to hold still ] Sounds good to me.

[Fresh eyes, fresh ideas. They make a difference.] Maybe after things calm down again. Everything still feels a bit...off. [He shrugs slightly, having no other way to explain all the tension in the air.
no subject
I wonder how close we are to the coast. It's hard to tell from the maps.
[And it's not like the Russian Empire back home ever had cities named Nesreca or Credinta.]
[musing aloud:] If we can leave the city, find someplace where they won't know us and at least live there until we we can go home...
[It would make life better for everyone, but at the same time, Allen gets the feeling the clue they need is right here in Nesreca. If they could at least get the children and non-combatants somewhere safe, though...]
[At Lavi's observation, he lowers his gaze to his knees guiltily, but only because it's probably hard for Lavi to catch it at that angle.]
I don't doubt they will soon. Tyki's been doing alright.
[It's not the only source of tension, of course, but it's the one they can talk openly about. Besides, he plans to check on Lenalee after this.]
no subject
[Laughs softly.] It'd be nice to live somewhere we're not hated or feared. It didn't used to be that way here and it shouldn't.
[Puts his hands down, ruffling out Allen's hair and then moves to a new section.]
That's good, any signs of him cheering up to his normal "rankle Exorcist chains" self yet?
no subject
[Doesn't need to sleep, doesn't need to eat, comes armed with a handsome maw of very. Sharp. Teeth. He takes the ruffling without complaint this time, as he knows Lavi means well and er, he is in possession of those scissors.]
Not yet, but I don't blame him. [in something close to a murmur:] He's all by himself here.
no subject
Lavi pauses and blinks, looking at Allen.] You sure that's okay, Allen? Not that I don't mind Tim's company but what would Cross say if he came looking for the butterball?
[He was actually making sure Allen's hair looked alright as he cut it. But the ruffle can definitely be to cheer him up as well.]
And it could very well be the other way around one day. Just one of us and the majority of the population being Noah.
no subject
[firmly:] Yes. If Master--[ it's spoken with the slightest note of tension, things between them are prickly at the moment ]--says anything, I'll just tell him to deal with it.
[There it is, that edge of brat, but then he sobers slightly.]
He'll have to, he already gave Tim to me.
[A bit of that prerecorded message he never told anyone about, except Link, who only overheard it because... Well. It's his job.]
[somewhat reserved:] I've thought of it.
[And he knows they would never have been as benevolent as he has been to them. It all looks grossly unfair in comparison, so he can't help but wonder if Lenalee (a pang at the mere thought of her name) has good reason to think he might value the Noah's humanity over his friends' well-being.]
If it does come to that-- I just hope Tyki and Rhode will remember how we gave them a chance.
no subject
Lavi picks up on it but he just hums again, knowing that if Allen wanted to talk about it that he would. Then again sometimes he just keeps quiet. This doesn't sound like something he needs to stick his nose into though, this is something between the two of them.]
He did now? That's good, Tim deserves a master that won't leave him alone.
[Not that he thinks badly of Cross. Well, he does but yeah. Not so that Tim would attack him for talking bad about Cross.]
If they don't leave and come back not remembering a thing.
/)_(\ so late slkjfld;
Mm. [ dishing up a slice of a smile, nothing in his voice to betray his thoughts on the matter: ] Said he's always planned on giving Tim to me.
[He holds out a hand for the golem in question to perch on (not finger, Tim doesn't quite fit anymore), then nudges it slightly in Lavi's direction.]
I'm sure he can leave me alone for a week or two.
[Sighs then, a gusty sound that stirs his bangs, because something is always liable to go wrong.]
We'll just have to hope they will.
[Or, now that Rhode's gone, see if Tyki at least is willing to leave some kind of message behind for himself, should he ever leave and return again. Allen isn't sure how convincing that will be, though.]
/clings to anyway
He is rather helpful to have around unless he's eating things he shouldn't.
[Tugs on a bit of hair.] But can you do without Tim for a week or two? [A wiry grin on Lavi's face as he moves around to trim those unruly bangs.]
One of those 'time will tell' things. Always get too impatient for them.
no subject
Sometimes even when he is. [ tilts his face up so Lavi can get a better look at his bangs, thoughtful for a moment or two. you know what, barring that incident in China, Allen hasn't gone without Tim's company for years. jokingly: ] I expect I'll suffer for it, but I'll probably survive.
[Hums a little at his last comment, there's not much else to add. No sense in cracking your head over something that can't be helped.]
no subject
[Snipping just a few more places then ruffles out Allen's hair again, checking the cut.] He'll probably cry crocodile tears the entire time and then flood us out when we get back.
no subject
[And growing to the size of a bus, apparently, though that still disturbs Allen more than it reassures him. Tilts his head this way and that for Lavi to get a better look.]
What makes you think they'll be crocodile tears? [ it's packed with quite a bit of mock indignance. but he gives a light shrug then, and continues on a more serious note: ] It's an option. If you do decide you'd like to take him along, just let me know.
no subject
[At least Lavi doesn't quite know anything about that growth spurt of Tim's. Tyki mentioned something distractedly but Lavi didn't question him, all he wanted was to be left alone at the moment. Now he gets a headpat. Done.]
You want alligator tears instead? I'm sure he could manage that instead. [Hums.] Might be good in case I get injured and can't call for help. He can get it for me.
no subject
[Bobs his head and murmurs a 'thank you' before rising to try catching his reflection in a grimy window, not even batting an eyelid at the Fourteenth's constant shadow.]
[firmly:] He will, [ gives the root of a golden wing a fond scratch ] if he doesn't turn out to be all the help you'll need.
no subject
[Taking the blanket off of Allen and shaking it out.] I'll still think about it, don't want to leave you without him.
no subject
[ the slightest snort ] Then I'd bet he never visits.
[Turning to hold out a hand for the scissors with a bit of a pained smile.]
Alright, we should wait for whatever's happening this month anyway. Wouldn't want you to get caught in it on your own.
no subject
Rocks could be for a house he's building there. Or his pyramid the has people building.
[Joking as he hands them over then wraps the blanket around his own shoulders and slips off his bandanna and eye-patch, keeping the eye shut. The string might get snipped and then where will he be?]
Away from here I might not get caught up in it.
no subject
Neither are quite his style. Some kind of establishment [ the 'expensive' part goes unsaid ], perhaps, where he can [ a bit of a sigh: ] come and go as he pleases.
[Accepts the scissors and... Can't help but look, though he manages not to stare openly. He has never seen Lavi with his eyepatch off, and the sight is oddly jarring.]
[ remembering himself soon enough: ] Might. We don't know for sure. I'm not opposed to finding out, but let's not do it this way.
[He reaches to comb Lavi's bangs out, gloved thumb lingering very briefly over his right eyebrow.]
Is it...? [ tapers off, a little surprised at himself for asking ]
no subject
You mean like Credinta? [A bit flatly but still a light, joking tone.
Nothing strange about a closed eye-lid. It's perhaps whiter than the rest of Lavi's tan for all the years he's been wearing it. Almost matching Allen's gloves if they're still white.]
I'd still like to find the boarders of her reach at least. Think Lenalee has found one?
[A slight flinch and jerk back, not expecting or really seeing it until he felt the fabric.]
It's still there, still works. I just...can't use it. Panda's orders.
no subject
[Sorry his Master's off gallivanting while we're all starving here, bro.]
Mm, I know, but I'd rather play it safe. As safe as it gets anyway. We should wait to see what's going to happen first, and if it's something that won't affect us too much even if we leave the city with minimal company, we can test her boundaries before the week runs out. [ beat ] Ah, I haven't asked her―
[ his hand stutters back too when Lavi flinches. oh well, as good a distraction as any. ]
―Sorry! I didn't mean to... [ pry. carries on with a sheepish, but still mildly teasing laugh to gloss over the moment: ] Best leave it alone, then. We don't want him coming after you.
[Tugs his left glove off, then flattens a section of hair between fore and middle finger to take the first careful snip.]
no subject
I'm still not even sure where it is in the north, we might have to wait for one of her little play-dates and see if it wears off the further away we get.
[Rubs at his closed eyelid.] It's alright, at this point I'd welcome the old man...
[Drops his hand as Allen starts cutting his hair.]
no subject
[ nod ] Probably our best bet.
[Keeps cutting with slow but precise snips, making another attempt at buoyancy.]
He'd never like it here anyway. This place wouldn't be kind to his hair.
no subject
Laughs a little.] He'd probably set up shop over across the bridge like Cross. "You can take care of yourself over here, record. I'll take care of over here."
[Doing a fair impression of his own master.]
no subject
[ laughing too, kind of chagrined the way one does when comparing notes on whose life sucks more: ]
―Some masters we have, Lavi. [ musing: ] He might not do that poorly either. That hair's as good as a walking advertisement.
[What Bookman lacks in quantity, he makes up for with quality. Allen kind of wonders why he's still balding if he takes such good care of his hair, though. Hrm.]
