tothelastbreath and
looseleafbook,
alma_karma whenever they get around to kidnapping him in the name of good grooming habits, and maybe
promisedlotus if he's cool with getting a haircut.
When: July 11th
Where: Nesreca apartments
Rating: DANDELIONS AND PUPPIES until Kanda opens his mouth.
Summary: Just a bunch of boys cutting each other's hair, with or without permission. What can go wrong, seriously. Also, action spam format. Aaaaall the action spam.
[Truth is, Allen doesn't really care if his hair gets cut or not.
Truth is, Nesreca has this hideous way of encouraging him not to care very much about most things pertaining to himself.
What he does care about, however, is making good on his verbal promise to Lavi, especially after circumstances have caused him to fall short of keeping the previous one. So when late morning finally rolls around, he splashes some water on his face in an attempt to wash away the fatigue, tries on a smile in a grimy window pane (stretch it, hold it, steady now), and makes his way to room 905 with the pair of surgical scissors they'd found all those weeks ago.]
Lavi? [ Knock knock. ] Are you up?

Lavi? [ Knock knock. ] Are you up?

I was probably lucky only getting beatings.
[Hums softly, eyes shut.] Walking advertisement, huh? Still, I wonder if he'd have much left when he finally retires.
[/pluck pluck pluck]

[This, Lavi, is the most distant look ever. So distant Allen is probably looking into another world and several years back, straight into a merry era of beatings, quietly mortified overnight stays in expensive brothels, impossible errands, and debt. All of the debt.]
You know― There really ought to be some sort of organisation providing aid for these things.
[Preferably financial aid.]

I just figure that growing up under Cross probably wasn't the easiest thing in the world... But even with all that he put you through you still grew up better than what you could have become. I mean...you could have turned out just like him, yeah? [A nervous laugh.] But instead you're always trying to be helpful and be there for everyone, on and off the battlefield no matter your own condition. And you don't have to, but you do.
...And doing business with Cross would probably make them close business, Allen.

Tries to, I think I sort of make him lose a strand a day with how I make him mad.
1/3
―Ah.
2/4 I lied
Of course I don't have to, I want to. It's not that big a deal, is it? We're friends, and... It's only natural to want to help everyone else here, I think.

You're underestimating my master, by the way. He'd take over everyone else's business.
[No comment on the rest, no mention of how he's set on not turning out just like Cross, but is a little too much like his Master nonetheless. He'll take what he learned from Cross and make it his own.]
And I can't say I blame Bookman― Are you sure it's not because of all those practice rides?
no subject
[He blinks and looks at Allen before looking down again.] Of course we would. [Eye closes once more at the sound of the scissors working on his hair.] Anyone that loaned money to him wouldn't survive.
[A small smile, perhaps a little secretive.] Not in the slightest.

But I am doing what I want—
[Making sure everyone gets by alright. Looking for a way out. Handling Libitina's games as best as he can. Trying to better understand certain people from his world now that he's been given a chance. Helping people from other worlds, like Karkat, even if they may not remember it when they go home. Not leaving of his own free will until every last resident has been safely sent home to their respective worlds.
It's already quite a handful, so it's just as well that Allen rarely wants anything for himself.]
[lightly:] —so you'd best be ready to put up with it.
[adding in a sigh:] Oh, they would. Long enough to come after me and... [ cocking his head warily at that smile ] ...Some other reason for it, then?
[One that you're privy to?]
no subject
How can he be so selfless?
It wasn't fair, not to Allen. Not in Lavi's opinion.
Lavi lets out a heavy sigh with breath he hadn't realized was building in his chest and just lets the subject drop if Allen wants.] Alright...
Would they even dare come over the bridge, Allen? [A soft grin.] Yeah, but Gramps likes me keeping it under wraps. [White lie is a go.]
1/4
...I think not.
2/4
3/4
A smarmy fellow who went by the name of Allen Walker.
His reputation is forever sullied, so thoroughly its dark stains will linger on for decades in another world, just because that's how long legends last.]
4/5 I lied.
5/5
[Moving around to work on the back of Lavi's hair now.]
♥
[Poor Allen. But at least the legends will serve well to encourage or perhaps discourage those who might try the same path.
Those muttered words make Lavi pause and open his eye to look at Allen with a soft and curious noise.]
Just something he doesn't like getting around.
♥!
I don't think he will, and anyway... It's alright. [ shrugs, not exactly helplessly, but in a resigned, what-else-can-I-do sort of way ] I couldn't pay them back even if I wanted to.
[Not to mention he has resolved not to remember his master by his debts, even if the man himself is here now.
Most of the time.
...Allen will just have to keep him from going over too frequently. Lord knows he can't, even for Credinta's sake, keep Cross from his vices entirely, or he'll be a terror and a half to deal with.]
[ He nods, assuming it's a private sort of thing, and graciously drops the subject. Lavi's trolling shall go undetected for another day. There follows a few minutes of silence as he concentrates on trimming the rest of Lavi's hair, before stepping back with a bright: ]
—There! What do you think? I left it longer just in case, but I can trim it more if you like.
♥♥♥ :3
Too lazy for it, you think? [Huffs softly.] We'd rescue you before they made you work it off, Allen.
[/o/ Victory!] Well, my head feels lighter, but not too light. [Lavi runs a hand through it, the hand not holding the patch.] Feels about right.
no subject
[Among other, less mundane reasons, but let's not get into them. Allen suspects he doesn't even know half of them. Steps aside so Lavi can check his hair in the window's reflection.]
Well, let me know if you change your mind. I don't mind fixing it― Within reason.
no subject
Lavi doesn't even check, he trusts Allen with it and slips his eye-patch back on.]
I'm sure I could fix it later if I change my mind. [A thought strikes him.] Think Alma could use a hair cut too. It was a bit long when I gave him a bath.
no subject
Or I could keep my hood on.
[He's not opposed to a proper disguise if he has to interact with Credinta residents for some reason, but until then, he'll settle for keeping his head down and sticking to dark alleyways. Turns back to Lavi, mild surprise stretching his lips into an automatic smile.]
You gave him a bath? [ How... Cute. And domestic. ] And yes, we'd better. It is turning into quite a tangle.
no subject
Or you could do that until it got too hot to keep it on or became rude.
He was covered in mud and was going to get into bed like that. [Pulls out his PDA.] I'll see if I can get him.
no subject
[Get in, get whatever they need, get out without ever coming face to face with anyone. That's how Allen's been operating. He used to leave a bit of money behind too, but he doesn't have any left.]
Ah. [ a slight wince, he feels more responsible for Alma than he really ought to these days ] Good thing you caught him, then.
[Nods, indicating Lavi should go ahead.]
Shall we await Ningi?
