Characters: [livejournal.com profile] sealinghistory and YOU
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: Apartment Building
Rating: G?
Summary: Lavi's off checking up on the people in the apartment. Someone's got to make sure no one injures themselves.

So, this is not exactly how he had expected to start the day.

Sure, he was no stranger to weird things, but it wasn't everyday that one woke up without being able to hear anything. To say that worried Lavi was an understatement, and if he hadn't seen what was going on in Allen's message then, he probably would've been a lot less calm. Though, to be fair, he knew he had it easier than the others. Losing his sense of hearing was only bad if he needed it badly, like in a fight with doubles or something. Here? It was just an inconvenience he'll have to get used to.

But he did worry about the others. While he's sure the Exorcists can handle themselves just fine, he won't leave it to luck. So with that, and after making sure Allen will stay put, he decided to go exploring the building for the rest of the people. He might as well check up on everyone, if there's just a handful of them living here. This was going to be fun.

Knock, knock.

Kanda could faintly hear Lavi moving about next door, he hoped that the redhead wouldn't end up showing up at his door. The last thing he needed, really, was a rabbit hounding hi--

Knock, knock.

"...Tch." Of course he had to think something. Kanda got up and walked over to the door and opened it. Surely enough, there was Lavi.

"What?"

"Tch. I'm fine." Well, he wasn't really when you took into the account that his sense of touch was missing, but he didn't really care that it was missing either. He left the door open for Lavi to do what he wanted and turned to head back to his bed. He wasn't doing anything special that required being 'checked on' anyway.

... The fact that both Lavi and Allen, now, have just dropped by like that did annoy him, but when didn't they?

"... Stop eavesdropping." Kanda had always taken his body for granted anyway, especially his healing and regenerating abilities. That much definitely hadn't changed, especially when he wasn't even wearing a coat, and in nothing more than a flimsy thing called a shirt.

"I told you, I'm fine. Cold weather is nothing." Really. It wasn't his fault if Lavi couldn't handle it. Kanda had left his jacket on his desk next to his hourglass, if Lavi really was looking for it.

Kanda just sat on his bed, watching the redhead with his arms folded over his chest. "If that's all, you can leave."

Kanda, instead of taking his jacket from Lavi, just glared up at the redhead. Really? It wasn't happening.

"Hell no."

"You're more annoying when you're loud." A finger twitched in irritation as he simply watched the Bookman apprentice, frowning. Did Lavi lose his hearing? Probably, with the way he was being loud. The thought made him wonder absently what Alma would lose for the week, and Lenalee too.

"She knows not to worry senselessly."

Now that got a reaction out of him, even if it was the twitch of a hand. Lavi wouldn't have missed it. Kanda looked away from a moment before giving a 'tch!' and grabbing the coat from Lavi. Stupid rabbit. Stupid. Just. Stupid.

"Fine, I will! Happy now?!"

"Shut up. You only came over to check on me, right? I'm fine. Feel free to leave." Kanda most likely would have gotten up and literally kicked Lavi out himself, but losing his ability to touch also meant losing the ability to know when his body was healing itself. If he could help it, he didn't want to leave his perch on his bed, not when Lavi was around at least.

He put on the coat, but didn't bother to button it, making it a point to avoid eye contact with the redhead. Kanda was partially mad at himself for reacting the way he did, but it's not like he could control what his body did when he couldn't feel anything to begin with.

"The coat's fine! Hurry and get out before I kick you out!" Dammit, Kanda didn't like this. While he was glad Alma was actually around and didn't know what the Order was trying to do, he had still allowed himself to get soft. Even if it was just a little, it was still considered 'too soft' by Kanda.

Kanda took a deep breath to calm himself down, leaning back against the wall behind him. Losing his temper wouldn't do in a place like this.

"What?"

Kanda's eyes narrowed slightly automatically. Alma was a sensitive subject, and hell, until he found out that Alma was even here, the subject was completely Taboo. He might have softened up a little during his stay here, but there was absolutely no way he would openly talk about Alma or what happened to him. No way.

"No one you need to concern yourself with."

Kanda made a move to get up, but it was only that - a simple move. Lavi could interpret it as he will.

"I'm not telling you shit."

"Tch! Just leave, you stupid rabbit." Kanda leaned back against the wall, letting out an exasperated sigh. The last thing he wanted to do was start something and end up upsetting Alma. Lavi was lucky. For now.

"Whatever, jest leave." Well, if he could take any consolidation from that pointless visit, it would be that his hourglass didn't get mentioned. Yet.

The silence was still bothering Lenalee. No matter what she dropped on the floor, banged on the wall, she couldn't hear it. She couldn't even hear herself talk, not even when she raised it. All she could hear were her own thoughts, a quiet voice in the deafening silence. And truth be told, it was slowly driving her mad like the silence back at the Order when she was young.

After she made sure that Allen didn't do anything reckless such as climbing up eight or so flights of stairs, she sat at the edge of her bed and started fiddling again with the PDA. She wanted to hear someone's - anyone's - voice but nothing was coming out, just images. Her lipreading skills weren't even that good yet.

"This is ridiculous," she said in a voice that was probably a whisper. She couldn't tell.

[identity profile] herhatedgod.livejournal.com 2011-01-12 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
If she could hear the knocking, she would have already given a sign. Such as answering the door. But seeing that she couldn't hear anything, Lenalee didn't. Simply sat there on her bed, watching the images on her PDA. She couldn't even reply to some of them. A moment later, she shut it off and placed it on top of the table, sighing. It was something she wouldn't do on a normal basis, turning off her means of communication with this world. But it was terribly depressing her already.

[identity profile] herhatedgod.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Lenalee blinked twice at the slight vibrations under her feet, frowning at the floor. Was it just her or . . . She looked around, noting the room. Everything was falling apart already after all and the apartment, while it was better than the other buildings around, didn't seem that sturdy as well. Was it possible that it slowly falling apart as well?

The thought was maddening, considering that she couldn't hear anything. After all, if something were to happen, without her hearing, it would be difficult for her to know anything.

But then, that vibration didn't last too long. Just one and it was over. She sighed absently. Maybe it was just a small tremor. Nothing to worry about really. She was just being paranoid with her loss of hearing, that's all. Still though, she stood up from her bed to walk over to the door.

Maybe she should check on the others too.

[identity profile] herhatedgod.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
A moment and then --

Lenalee paused in the middle of the room. There it was again, that vibration. And it didn't feel like a tremor, more like someone walking heavily on the floor. Which was strange enough because why would anyone do that. Unless it was one of those weird occurrences again.

She frowned at door, half-hesitant to open it now. Just judging whatever it was behind that door based on the tremors . . . Still, was it really safe to open it? She didn't want to risk it though, especially when her own legs still hurt and her Innocence still barely active.

She stood there for another minute, weighing the pros and cons.

[identity profile] herhatedgod.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
The vibrations paused again.

What was going on? Lenalee finally walked over towards the door and slowly, apprehensively opened it, standing behind the door itself. If there was indeed anything outside - anything at all - at least she'd be shielded by the door first. She could think of other ways later to fend for an attack later.

After a minute or two, she peered around, only to blink twice at the person standing outside. Had he been there all this time?

"Lavi?"

[identity profile] herhatedgod.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Lenalee frowned visibly as he started speaking, only recognizing her name from his words. Her lipreading skills were still poor and the only reason she could understand Allen was because he was speaking slowly. She knew Lavi had lost his sense of hearing according to Allen and she didn't know if he could lipread too so she simply smiled.

"I -" She pointed at her ears then shook her head. "- can't hear you, Lavi."

Yuuta opens his door a crack, peering out carefully, making sure to watch how far he opened it, as he could not feel it like he usually did. It was annoying, being completely numb. He had to watch where his fingers went instead of being able to just watch the screen of his PDA.

"Who are you?" he asked.

[identity profile] meitori.livejournal.com 2011-01-14 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Strange?" he repeated. Ah, he must be someone else affected by whatever Libitania was doing to them, which meant that he was also was one of the forced tenants of this place. "If you consider being unable to feel anything, then yes. Of course, other people are missing other more important senses."

[identity profile] meitori.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Worrisome and dangerous are two different things," Yuuta replied. "You just have to be more aware of your surroundings." He then stepped aside to allow him in, if he wanted to come in, though Yuuta didn't really want some total stranger coming in. Stupid manners his mother drove into him.

"Being completely numb does not prevent you from moving. That's paralysis."

[identity profile] meitori.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, but movement is something you do constantly. Most people don't even think about walking, how it feels, unless there is something odd about the ground or their shoes. So all you have to do is not focus on being numb."

He stood on one foot and jumped once without falling for emphasis.

Sticking one's self with a nail or not being able to feel themselves getting sick were dangerous possibilities, but he would be fine. So would Ritsuka, if they stayed indoors. Unlike that idiot Kanda, getting firewood. It was important to stay warm, but so was one's hands.
