Summary: Lavi's off checking up on the people in the apartment. Someone's got to make sure no one injures themselves.

So, this is not exactly how he had expected to start the day.

Sure, he was no stranger to weird things, but it wasn't everyday that one woke up without being able to hear anything. To say that worried Lavi was an understatement, and if he hadn't seen what was going on in Allen's message then, he probably would've been a lot less calm. Though, to be fair, he knew he had it easier than the others. Losing his sense of hearing was only bad if he needed it badly, like in a fight with doubles or something. Here? It was just an inconvenience he'll have to get used to.

But he did worry about the others. While he's sure the Exorcists can handle themselves just fine, he won't leave it to luck. So with that, and after making sure Allen will stay put, he decided to go exploring the building for the rest of the people. He might as well check up on everyone, if there's just a handful of them living here. This was going to be fun.

Now that got a reaction out of him, even if it was the twitch of a hand. Lavi wouldn't have missed it. Kanda looked away from a moment before giving a 'tch!' and grabbing the coat from Lavi. Stupid rabbit. Stupid. Just. Stupid.

"Fine, I will! Happy now?!"

That... was an interesting reaction. Interesting enough that, despite himself, he didn't even protest to Kanda suddenly taking the coat from him. Not even anything like Yuu! You could have asked. or a similar reaction. It lasted only a second though, two at most.

"I didn't expect that." He blurts out, admitting it, openly curious now. He didn't think it was because he was persistent, he only did mention two names, but that seemed enough for him. Odd.

"Shut up. You only came over to check on me, right? I'm fine. Feel free to leave." Kanda most likely would have gotten up and literally kicked Lavi out himself, but losing his ability to touch also meant losing the ability to know when his body was healing itself. If he could help it, he didn't want to leave his perch on his bed, not when Lavi was around at least.

He put on the coat, but didn't bother to button it, making it a point to avoid eye contact with the redhead. Kanda was partially mad at himself for reacting the way he did, but it's not like he could control what his body did when he couldn't feel anything to begin with.

"But Yuu, you didn't even button up your coat." He's being stubborn, maybe, but his curiosity has gotten him to a point where he is half tempted to lodge himself to the floor if he has to. Just for now though. It's not like Kanda to actually care about what others think like that, especially when it comes to his own body. It was interesting to say the least, and Lavi liked interesting things. The science division can vouch for how much.

"The coat's fine! Hurry and get out before I kick you out!" Dammit, Kanda didn't like this. While he was glad Alma was actually around and didn't know what the Order was trying to do, he had still allowed himself to get soft. Even if it was just a little, it was still considered 'too soft' by Kanda.

He can see the distaste, but somehow not hearing it helped keep Lavi in place. He seemed more irritable than usual though, at least, from the way he reacted. Which means that Lavi probably should tread carefully if he doesn't want to be cut up by Mugen. Can Kanda even control his strength like this? He wasn't sure.

"All right, all right, I'll go. Just one question before I leave though."

Kanda took a deep breath to calm himself down, leaning back against the wall behind him. Losing his temper wouldn't do in a place like this.

"What?"

He falls silent for a moment, trying to figure out how to say this a little more tactfully. The pure silence however, was unnerving, and he found himself speaking almost immediately just to quell it. While he can't exactly hear, the knowledge that something's being said was a little less unnerving.

"Who is Alma anyway?" To you, or just in general. He's not just some kid, and he wants to know what's so special about him.

Kanda's eyes narrowed slightly automatically. Alma was a sensitive subject, and hell, until he found out that Alma was even here, the subject was completely Taboo. He might have softened up a little during his stay here, but there was absolutely no way he would openly talk about Alma or what happened to him. No way.

"No one you need to concern yourself with."

"Considering we all live in this place, that's kind of hard to do." He points out, but doesn't push unnecessarily further. If it was something embarrassing, he'd be relentless, but for something like this, he's still on the fence on whether to keep on pushing or to leave it be. On one hand, he was definitely curious, on the other--- more Bookman-like thoughts--- it wasn't really part of his job. Or maybe it is, depending on the answer. He's not sure.

"I don't care." Sorry Lavi, Kanda wasn't going to budge on this issue.

"Should I just ask him then?" Not meant to be a threat, but maybe an incentive. Though, he supposed it was safer from the child, but then he would rather hear it from Kanda.

Kanda made a move to get up, but it was only that - a simple move. Lavi could interpret it as he will.

"I'm not telling you shit."

That may be his cue to get ready. After all, he was starting to see a vein popping out, or maybe that's his imagination acting up, but he definitely noticed the movement. Just one more push then. It wasn't like he wasn't going to ask Alma now, now that Kanda showed he's not talking.

"I didn't think it was that big of a secret, Yuu!"

"Tch! Just leave, you stupid rabbit." Kanda leaned back against the wall, letting out an exasperated sigh. The last thing he wanted to do was start something and end up upsetting Alma. Lavi was lucky. For now.

"All right, all right." He did say last question, and since Kanda isn't about to castrate him, he should take this as a good sign. He ponders saying something more, maybe along the lines of Hey, you do seem nicer now! but he had a feeling that was just going to get him in more trouble. It was tempting, but he'll just let it off the hook now.

"Don't go running off doing weird things this week, got it?"

"Whatever, jest leave." Well, if he could take any consolidation from that pointless visit, it would be that his hourglass didn't get mentioned. Yet.

"I'm glad to see you too, Yuu! We should do this again next time." He says in a sing-song manner, before he heads off. Well, no point sticking around any longer than necessary then. There were others to check up on.
