Summary: The twins are reunited

Fay's mind was still reeling as he hurried towards the river. How could this be? How could his Fay have been brought back to him? He hadn't finished his journey. He wasn't supposed to be able to save him until he saw the Princess home to Clow country. This place had a magic he didn't understand. It could all be trick. He could be running to his death, but right now he didn't care. That was Fay. He knew his voice, he would never forget his voice. If it was an imitation then they deserved to kill him.

He reached the river, breathless, and head twisting about looking for his other half. He pressed on, walking alongside the river until finally a small figure caught his eye and he took off at a run again, dropping to his knees to embrace the boy. He held him close, panting for breath and struggling for words, eyes swimming.

"...Fay."

"Most of them. Sakura-chan is from a desert world, she'd never seen snow before our travels. Most places only have snow for part of the year." It had been a strange thing to get used to. And probably the simplest of the differences he could describe to his brother. "There was Sakura-chan, Syaoran-kun, and Kurogane."

"...I can teach you," he added, sensing Fay's worry, "I was taught by someone very kind, I can teach you what he taught me."

“People can live in a hot desert?” That was a weird concept to understand, having grown up in snow for the whole of his short life. It made understanding only having snow part of the year more, well, normal. Sort of although not completely. It sounded like Yuui had gotten used to it easy enough though, that could have been because he had other people who were getting used to things too... Either way Fay couldn’t help but be happy about his brother finding nice people, he had deserved it with his freedom.

“...You’ll teach me?” He didn’t dare ask who had initially taught the other twin, he could tell that it would be probably bring up something painful to think about.

"Mmm hmm," he said with a small laugh, "And when it gets warm enough there are lots of cool treats." He would find some for Fay. There was so much he wanted to give Fay, so much that he'd got to have while twin's only memories were of their imprisonment.

"I'll teach everything I know," he promised with a nod, "You'll be stronger than me soon en-" he started, then looked rather frightened for a moment before putting that smile back up. He couldn't let Fay trigger the curse. He couldn't allow himself to hurt Fay.

It was funny really, how the strangest things could really sound like something exciting to try after so long of being stuck to the same routine. Maybe some changes really weren’t so bad, and if Yuui enjoyed them then they really had to be good things in the end. His brother wouldn’t lie to him about something like that, no matter how old he was and how strange it was to be twins while not being them right now.

Fay gave a very worried look up at the abrupt cut off, that couldn’t be a good sign, not at all. Was something wrong? Had he said something he shouldn’t have mentioned? A small and rather weak tug to gain his attention, “What’s wrong?”

Yuui chewed lightly on his lower lip, looking down at Fay. Should he tell him? Welcome back to life Fay, but don't get too strong or I'll have to kill you, since my power is halved, hey you want some icecream? He didn't need to explain it all yet. Fay was still too young. When his powers got close enough to be a danger he would explain it fully.

"Nothing to worry about just now, I just remembered something is all," he said, shifting the too light body of is brother so that he could open the main door to the building and start up the stairs.

Fay tilted his head very slightly, an unconscious action as he watched Yuui clearly struggle to some extent with an answer to give him. Although, of course, he had no clue as to why his twin was having so much trouble in the first place. Something which would likely become a common occurrence, him asking questions which would likely prove troublesome for his brother to respond to, those years missing between them clearly showed the gap.

He nodded slowly, accepting that answer and not pressing for anything else. In fact all he did was hold on a little more as he was shifted and eye the building once more, steps seemed like a new concept entirely. At least, even though it was a tall building, they would be together.

It was a long climb, and the silence grew around them, only Yuui's footsteps echoing, but he had a soft smile on his face, and he would glance down to Fay every few steps, still not quite believing he was real. He was half afraid he would be snatched away from him again, or that Reed would find them and demand he finish his journey before he was allowed to have Fay back.

He pushed open the door to his room and set Fay down on his bed, grabbing one of the empty sake bottles he'd filled up with water and passing it to him. "Not too much or you'll be sick," he warned, "I'll have to go out to get food....will you be all right?" he asked, looking slightly anxious. He was torn between the need to protect and the need to nurture. He'd only just got him back, but without food he could loose him again quickly.

Fay stayed silent, quietly watching the walls pass by before they reached the room, and even then he remained the same while sitting on the bed. Everything was just starting to catch up to him, the confusion, the bad feeling about this, what could happen to other people. What if they started causing misfortune here? Was that even possible?

His thoughts were distracted by the bottle of water, simply taking it and nodding in understanding. Not too much at once despite how incredibly thirsty he felt. A few small drinks from the bottle before giving the best look he could give at that moment to reassure his brother. “I’ll be okay.” So long as Yuui came back, he could cope with being apart a little more.

Yuui smiled at him, perching on the edge of the bed and taking up the second PDA. "Don't answer the door for anyone but me. And if you need me you can use this call for me, okay?" he said, looking to his brother, "Just push this button here and call for me and I'll come back," he promised, "I shouldn't be long. You can sleep and I'll be back before you know it." It was clear he was probably more anxious about leaving him then Fay was about being left. He hugged him again, placing the PDA in his lap.

Fay carefully looked over the PDA, taking in the buttons that Yuui was showing him. If there were bad people then he certainly wouldn’t open the door to anyone that he didn’t know, which was everyone save for his twin. A carefully placed look towards the door as he thought over being left alone again before eventually looking back and nodding, if he slept then he wouldn’t even notice his missing brother. At least, until he woke up again anyway.

Another hug as he mumbled out something, “I’ll be fine and sleep.”

"I'll be as fast as I can," Yuui promised, getting to his feet, "Try to sleep and I'll be right back." It wasn't until he closed the door silently that he let the vice gripping his heart sink in, eyes burning with a happiness that hurt it was so strong. His breath caught in his throat and his mind didn't know which way was up, but his feet kept him on path.

Fay was alive.
