Not double trouble
Characters: Fay (Yuui), Fay
When: March 26th/ after this
Where: By the river, back to apartments
Rating: PG-13 for skeletal like children and two Fays.
Summary: The twins are reunited
Fay's mind was still reeling as he hurried towards the river. How could this be? How could his Fay have been brought back to him? He hadn't finished his journey. He wasn't supposed to be able to save him until he saw the Princess home to Clow country. This place had a magic he didn't understand. It could all be trick. He could be running to his death, but right now he didn't care. That was Fay. He knew his voice, he would never forget his voice. If it was an imitation then they deserved to kill him.
He reached the river, breathless, and head twisting about looking for his other half. He pressed on, walking alongside the river until finally a small figure caught his eye and he took off at a run again, dropping to his knees to embrace the boy. He held him close, panting for breath and struggling for words, eyes swimming.
"...Fay."

"...Fay."

It didn’t make sense, he was breathing, he could touch and he was extremely aware of hunger and thirst. Even hearing Yuui’s voice seemed slightly strange although Fay couldn’t quite understand why there was a difference. Had Yuui changed a lot? Was he alright? Well, that was something he would see soon enough.
He barely had time to register someone coming up fast and then holding him. It sounded like Yuui. It sort of looked like Yuui. But...this person was older. And the only thing Fay could really think as he lightly hugged back was, well, that he must have been gone a lot longer than he’d thought. A few false starts, talking was proving difficult, before he managed to choke out a small sound.
“”

"It's me," he assured him in a soft voice, offering a small smile. He had a new reason he couldn't die now. He had to take care of Fay, he had to keep him safe. Nothing could ever hurt him again.

Simply he looked back at his brother, noticing that he looked well, apart from missing an eye which was worrying. He would have asked about it but...maybe he shouldn’t, maybe it was something that Yuui would want to keep secret. ...He looked healthier though, nothing like the starved figure he no doubt had. Lightly clinging onto Yuui’s arms, he shouldn’t be there... This shouldn’t be happening...
“...Where is this?”

“Food?” Now that sounded like a nice idea, something to eat and something to drink. Two things that he sorely needed now that time was moving correctly instead of how it moved in that one place. Fay very carefully held on as he was lifted up, he couldn’t complain about having the task of walking taken away. After all, he hadn’t really moved while in the tower...at least not walked around. Did his legs even remember how to work? Who knew.

"I'll keep you safe, Fay. I'm sorry," he murmured against his ear, keeping a watchful eye as he walked.

Fay carefully shifted slightly to look up at his brother, not quite understanding why he was sorry. It wasn’t Yuui’s fault that he had died, he’d chosen it himself and he was going to make sure that the other twin knew that. “You have nothing to be sorry for though, Yuui.”

“You don’t...” Fay mumbled slightly as he carried on listening. And then something caught his interest, something which really made him wonder. “...Who’s Chii?” Maybe if he asked about something different then Yuui would stop worrying and stop blaming himself for something that wasn’t his fault. It was worth a try considering all that his brother had been through, Fay may have been kept in that tower but...Yuui had been with the dead people of the country, he’d seen their own uncle...
It wasn’t fair.

His eye widened suddenly, and he looked to Fay. "Was there a feather? Did it come with you?"
no subject
A small startled look crossed his face at the suddenness of the question; the appearance only lasted for a few brief moments before it turned to one of confusion. A feather? He couldn’t remember ever seeing a feather... A very small shake of the head. “Should there have been one?”
no subject
"That's where we'll stay," he said, pointing out to the building, "We'll be safe there. There are others living there too."
no subject
“Would you want her to come here?” He was truly curious since, well, he wouldn’t mind meeting some of his brother’s friends if they had made him happy for a little while.
His attention was soon diverted to looking at the building, it seemed tall, taller than he really could have imagined. Or maybe he’d just simply been hoping to never see something high again. “...Others?”
no subject
He looked back down to Fay, with some guilt at his room being so near to the top. He would have to devise some curtains. "Yes. Other people were brought here as well. Some of them are very nice. Others it would be better if you stayed away from," he cautioned. If anyone tried to hurt Fay he would unleash every spell he knew on them.
no subject
He did his best to shake off the impending fear on going up high again; he should be used to it, right? It was hard to hide but it was worth the attempt if only to get rid of his brother’s guilty look. “...Some of them are bad?” It wasn’t really a surprise to him, the two of them had lived through being turned against by their own family after all. To go to another place and... He didn’t want to think that anyone would treat people that badly in a new place.
no subject
"...Yes," he said, not wanting scare his brother, but he wasn't going to lie to him either, "Some of them are bad. But not all. And we're stronger than they are, they can't hurt you."
no subject
He went a little quiet. Being stronger than them...he remembered how they had been born with a lot of magic and, while Yuui might have learnt to control it, he wouldn't be able to do that straight away. Did he even know how to use it in the first place? After several moments he simply settled with the most sensible thing that came to mind. "I know."
no subject
"...I can teach you," he added, sensing Fay's worry, "I was taught by someone very kind, I can teach you what he taught me."
no subject
“...You’ll teach me?” He didn’t dare ask who had initially taught the other twin, he could tell that it would be probably bring up something painful to think about.
no subject
"I'll teach everything I know," he promised with a nod, "You'll be stronger than me soon en-" he started, then looked rather frightened for a moment before putting that smile back up. He couldn't let Fay trigger the curse. He couldn't allow himself to hurt Fay.
no subject
Fay gave a very worried look up at the abrupt cut off, that couldn’t be a good sign, not at all. Was something wrong? Had he said something he shouldn’t have mentioned? A small and rather weak tug to gain his attention, “What’s wrong?”
no subject
"Nothing to worry about just now, I just remembered something is all," he said, shifting the too light body of is brother so that he could open the main door to the building and start up the stairs.
no subject
He nodded slowly, accepting that answer and not pressing for anything else. In fact all he did was hold on a little more as he was shifted and eye the building once more, steps seemed like a new concept entirely. At least, even though it was a tall building, they would be together.
no subject
He pushed open the door to his room and set Fay down on his bed, grabbing one of the empty sake bottles he'd filled up with water and passing it to him. "Not too much or you'll be sick," he warned, "I'll have to go out to get food....will you be all right?" he asked, looking slightly anxious. He was torn between the need to protect and the need to nurture. He'd only just got him back, but without food he could loose him again quickly.
no subject
His thoughts were distracted by the bottle of water, simply taking it and nodding in understanding. Not too much at once despite how incredibly thirsty he felt. A few small drinks from the bottle before giving the best look he could give at that moment to reassure his brother. “I’ll be okay.” So long as Yuui came back, he could cope with being apart a little more.

Another hug as he mumbled out something, “I’ll be fine and sleep.”

Fay was alive.
