Lift up your voice, lift up your voice. [WIIIIDE OPEN]

Characters: Doc. Kiriko and YOU!
When: November 25th in the evening, the last day of the "dance" event. Backdating is awesome and you should be doing it too.
Where: Out in the open.
Rating: PG for now, but will adjust if necessary. Kiriko can have a mouth.
Summary: Need AC? GREAT me too Kiriko finds an old, broken-down guitar and manages to barely cobble it together. He's being shy, but sneak up on him and now you actually have music to dance to! Or just chat.

He'd never been on Lady Luck's good side his entire life, but tonight, the Doc felt as if he'd won the lottery.

Rummaging through the wreckage one mindlessly boring afternoon, Kiriko had stumbled upon a ruined, broken and near irreparable classical guitar. A bit older in style than what he was used to, but he was sure he could get around that. He had no idea how it hadn't been salvaged yet. Maybe it was left over from the martketplace's spontaneous re-opening, maybe it had been dropped by a traveller, or just overlooked. Kiriko didn't know and he really didn't care. It was his rotting piece of wood now.

So what if it only had five strings and all of them had the dull and lifeless sound of needing to be replaced ten thousand plays ago, it was a guitar. After spending upwards of a day or two fixing it so the pieces fit together again and it could be somewhat tuned, Kiriko found a rather secluded spot away from the apartments (the last thing he wanted anyone to know about was his affection for music). Thinking he couldn't be heard, he began mindlessly strumming to check the tune, playing the first thing that sprang to his head and quietly singing along.

"The stars on the riverface sparkle and spin
I wish I was with them again.
Can you imagine a piece of the universe
More fit for princes and kings..."

Hm. Yeah, it wasn't the greatest quality with only five near-broken strings, but it would pass the time. Kept his unusually jittery fingers busy, too. Time to try something a little more bouncy...

Yukio had had a lot to think about during the last few days. The arrival of his father had thrown him through a loop, but he was adjusting admirably well for someone his his position. Of course, now the sudden spike of disappearances had set him on edge again (well, more so than he was usually), and in spite of the urge to hoard his family in one place for a sense of pseudo-safety, he also needed time away.

Not that foraging through the ruins of Nesreca was a particularly uplifting activity, but it served as a decent enough distraction. Walking and rummaging didn't require deep thinking. Just careful footing and an ear out for the unexpected... and this was certainly unexpected.

Ears perked and eyes alert, Yukio poked his head around a large chunk of concrete, blinking curiously at the sight of his new friend and his... guitar?

Yukio remained silent, content to let Kiriko continue playing uninterrupted. Music wasn't something he'd thought too much about at home, but he'd noticed its absence in Nesreca. It had always been a constant before, but Nesreca was so... quiet. Aside from the occasional shout or crash of something breaking, but that wasn't even close to the same thing.

Once the song came to what Yukio assumed was its end he stepped out from behind his cover, clearing his throat quietly.

"You're very good, Kiriko-san."
doctor_dragoon: (that's quite shocking)

Yukio flinched sympathetically as the guitar crashed to the ground, looking fairly sheepish. He hadn't meant to scare Kiriko, but he never would have expected such a reaction either.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you."

"I was out foraging when I heard you..."

Yukio stepped toward Kiriko, bending to pick the guitar up off of the ground and noting that stiff stance. Some of the effect was lost with them both being of similar height, but the attempt was still obvious enough.

"Just long enough to hear that song."
doctor_dragoon: (sounds like fun)

"It's a nice change from the quiet around here." He looked down at the instrument in his hands, inspecting it for damage... not that it was easy to tell new scuffs from preexisting ones, but he was sure Kiriko would be able to tell himself. "It's a shame we don't have anything nicer for you to play on."

He handed the guitar over carefully, smiling. "You're welcome."
doctor_dragoon: (pop quiz!)

no worries~

"Of course." Yukio straightened his coat and moved to claim a seat on a nearby chunk of rubble, shrugging a bit. "I doubt a few hours spent on something like this will effect things one way or the other."

He nodded. "I've never pursued it, but I like it as much as the next person."
