June 17; dusk

[Kanda didn't bother to stay with everyone else, just close enough that Alma would be able to go back and forth between him and everyone else staying at the bridge. Otherwise, Kanda was perfectly fine with staying on his own.

When he heard the wolves start to howl, however, he couldn't help but look over his shoulder back toward the city he couldn't even see. Okay, so there were possibly wolves around. That...wasn't really comforting to know.

He decided to ignore it, for now, and just glanced back down into the river he could barely see. How did anyone expect to fish in weather like this, anyway?]

[Allen suspects it's not so much a matter of expectation than a whole lot of wishful thinking. As mentioned, they can barely see the river, nightfall is less than an hour away, and they don't even have anything to fish with. As soon as this blasted week is over (harhar, Allen), he is crossing over to Credinta and getting everyone fishing rods by h― Okay, only by crook.]

[Frowns over his shoulder at the howling, and when he tilts his face up to look at Kanda -- he's crouched on the river bank, by the way -- his brow is still creased.]

Do you know how to fish?

[Like this, he means.]

You have a stick and a line?

[There's was a slight scoff in Kanda's voice, just in case Allen couldn't see it on his face. Were there even any fish in the river after the winter they had? He wasn't sure - doubted it, even - but he wasn't about to jump in the river and find out. He wasn't even sure how deep it was.

That, and it was suicide in these conditions.]

[Simply levels him with a very flat look. Does he look like he has anything to his name beyond Tim and the clothes on his back, Kanda--

Is he eying up Mugen?

Yes. Yes, he is.]

[beanstalk]

I am not using Mugen. [And have a rock tosses in your general direction, Allen. Here's hoping it hits you in the head or somewhere painful.]

Tch. Stupid sprout.

[Just ducks and lets it go sailing past him, then gives him a pointed glare.]

You did ask for a stick.

[Mugen, holy weapon of God, reduced to a glorified stick with a handle. Learn to be flexible, Kanda. It'll help you survive. Allen doesn't press the issue, though. A stick and line isn't going to help them much in this weather. Instead, he straightens and Invocates, then fixes a dubious, dubious look on the barely visible river surface.]

Guess I could make a blind grab and hope we get something.

[beanstalk]

[Kanda simply scoffed, watching Allen as best as he could through the fog. It was kinda tempting to shove him into the river. Actually, scratch that. It was very tempting.]

So go in and get some food.

[This look, mister.]

I don't see you leading the charge.

[Jumping into a river during this weather. Right. Gives the river another penetrating look that does nothing to help at all, then just... Casts Clown Belts blindly into the river.]

[beanstalk]

[Is he pretending that he can't see Allen? Why yes, yes he is.]

I told you I wasn't using Mugen, bean sprout.

Allen. Then figure something out. We aren't the only ones who have to eat.

[Hauls the Belts back in, each carrying a whole lot of nothing.]

[beanstalk]

[Snorts.]

Smooth.

[Narrows his eyes.]

[clipped:] At least I try.

[And reels them in just so to flick water in Kanda's face before he deactivates.]

[beanstalk]

[Wipes the water off his face with the back of his hand before getting to his feet.] Tch. Whatever.

[That glare grows harder; don't you 'whatever' him, mister. It sums up half the problems he has with you. He's not going to get into them under these circumstances though, and they do need to find food for everyone.]

Think we can cross over to Credinta?

[Like Cross did, except he isn't back yet. Just one more thing to worry about.]

[beanstalk]

It's never stopped us before. [Pointedly ignoring, brushing off the dirt and grass off of his flimsy "uniform."]

[Funny, that, how neither of them have uniforms to call their own anymore. Except one is still an Exorcist to the marrow, while the other... Well. Their current situation is a bit too unstable for anyone to be making definitions just yet.]

It's either that or wolves.

[beanstalk]

[It's all he has, what he went to Jordan in. He's never bothered getting much else, except the trench coat he wore during the winter. If he ever got clothes, he'd give them to Alma.]

I don't care.

Then maybe you should start. [ a pause, too long for that remark to be entirely related to what he says next: ] We're all in danger of starving, you know.

[beanstalk]

No shit, bean sprout. [He wasn't sure why he was so irritable, just. was. Maybe the event was starting to slowly get to him.]

If you're not going to cross over, then I will.

[tothelastbreath]

[snapping:] Allen. And I didn't say I won't, but maybe we should be weighing our options first.

[Pain VS Gain, etc etc. Does the fog affect Credinta anyway?]

[beanstalk]

What is there to even weigh? We've been stuck like this for nearly two weeks. Pretty much everyone's in the same damn spot. [Another wolf howl.]

We either hunt for food or go by memory to get across the river and the wall.

[tothelastbreath]

[exasperated:] That's what I meant, it's either hunting or Credinta.

[Thus, weighing the risks that come with those options. Glances away at that wolf howl.]

Though a trip to Credinta may be more effective. We don't have anything to cook with.

[beanstalk]

Find wood, burn it. Plenty in supply despite most of the buildings being gone.

[Kanda climbed back up the riverbed and started on his way back toward the bridge. Naturally, he didn't even bother to wait for a response from Allen or wait for him to follow him.]

Though I don't doubt they're just as effected by all this shit, even if we haven't heard from that old jeezer in ages.

[tothelastbreath]

[...Why isn't he surprised that your idea of preparing and cooking a full-grown wolf is to start a fire. Just stalks after Kanda, too irritated and hungry to debate the point.]

[sourly:] Better that we don't. It's when we do hear from him [ or worse, about him ] that the trouble starts.

[Peering across the river.] If they're affected too, we'll have an easier time getting around.

[And a harder time getting back too.]

[beanstalk]

[Get your own sword to use :||| Kanda just keeps going.]

If it's happening over there too, then we'll be able to get more than we usually do, even if it'd be harder to get back.
