Characters: Kanda Yu [
beanstalk], Cross Marian [
wineandwomen]
When: August 31st
Where: Apartment Roof
Rating: PG????
Summary: It's time for a talk.
[Well, it had been a couple weeks since Kanda had come back from home, and really, it's a subject that's been avoided with Cross for...ever, it seems. He can't recall anyone bringing up the Fourteenth with him here. If anyone had talked about it, it had been him and Lavi, trying to figure out the Earl's motives.
But now they needed to talk, Kanda needed answers. Allen had said that should the Fourteenth awaken, to kill him, and he planned to do that. He owed him that much, being the reason the Noah inside of him was awake in the first place.
Though what hat happened at that hotel when he stepped out obviously didn't escape him. Noah or not, Allen's left hand was used to injure Johnny, and it easily could have been worse if, like he suspects, the Fourteenth was in control. Allen was obviously in pain from the injury he gave him. Innocence was trying to heal it, even. It was obvious Allen was fighting against that pain and the Fourteenth when they caught up with him on the outskirts of town, and he knew the beansprout well enough to know that he wouldn't have given up control like that - so how did the Fourteenth take over, even for a moment?
It was frustrating, trying to figure it out, and Timcampy certainly wasn't of any help. (He still doesn't get how the golem even cried.....) He could ask Lavi if he knew anything, yeah, he trusted the rabbit, but he didn't want to worry him, either.
He hasn't told anyone what happened at home beyond "we found the beansprout." That's all that mattered to Lenalee and Lavi, and now Alma.
At a loss, Kanda grabbed his PDA and sent Cross a quick text - we need to talk about what's happening at home, i'll be on the roof. - and made his way quietly upstairs to the roof. He settled himself on the edge facing Credinta, legs hanging over the building as he waited.
He was back to wearing civilian clothes as well, having hung up his uniform. There was no need for it here, there weren't any Akuma or remaining Noah. The sleeves of his shirt, usually rolled up past his elbows and showing the stigmata on the inside of them, were only rolled up half-way up his forearm, hiding said stigmata. Though the pain and irritation had since left his left arm, that still bothered him, too.
Where to start with this 'talk,' though? Usually, when he and Cross spent time together on the roof, he was quiet - the silent and understanding company. It was something others didn't see, with them, since they were usually bickering or arguing about something. (Must like he and Allen, in that regard. Like master, like student, he guesses.Though Kanda will not take up art. Nope.) It had been a good year or so, possibly more, but he supposes... it can't hurt for Cross to remind him what he last recalled happened at home.
Now all he had to do was wait.]

Cross set his paper down, unbuttoning his coat to get the device out from the breast pocket on the inside. A sigh escaped the man at the message and he slipped it back inside it's home, reaching up to lift Tim off his head. "I need to go back out in the heat for a bit Tim. I'm sorry. You can stay here if you'd like."
Tiny hands gripped the man's fingers, the golem's answer that he would go with Cross, even if it meant roasting in the heat. Setting Tim down, Cross reached back to his hair, gathering it up into a ponytail to get it out of the way before picking his companion up again and disappearing from the room.
A moment later, Cross was standing behind Kanda, Tim moving to flutter in the man's shadow for shade. The only notice the older man gave the exorcist he was there was the click of his lighter lighting up a new cigarette before he moved over to the edge of the roof, standing beside Kanda. "What do you want." Not a question, a demand. Talking of home wasn't anything the general liked to do.

When he feels Tim behind him, he turned to glance at the golem before moving to take off his vest, draping it over his wings to make a makeshift tent of sorts. Sorry Tim, but he's getting back to his feet.
Home's usually a touchy subject, usually for good reason. Why would they think back on a desperate organization that's gone to inhumane extremes fondly? Even if they've willingly gone back, it's not like they really had anywhere else to go, not without being hunted. This was their only escape, without the worries and stress of war or being caught.
Standing in the same spot to give Tim some sort of shade in addition to his vest, Kanda shoved his hands into his pockets. "What are you willing to share about the Fourteenth?" 'It's important' is left unsaid, but his tone implies it. "Well, before that, what's the last you recall happening at home?"
