Characters: Uchiha Itachi & Uchiha Shisui
When: 29th August
Where: Just around Nesreca
Rating: PG
Summary: After refusing Shisui's offer of 'talking to ghosts' in the graveyard he promised he would go out walking with him the following day.

He'd ended up refusing Shisui's offer to communicate with the dead. Something about it unsettled him, perhaps something to do with the fact that Shisui himself was amongst those that had left them back home. He'd managed to pass it off as lack of interest, and Raven had mentioned that she would take him ghost hunting some time in the future anyway, and that settled it.

They're agreed to go out for a walk today instead, and not long after he'd procured breakfast for them both they set out. It wasn't the best of weather, but at the moment it was only fog to put a stop to their exploration. That and the dreams, but he wasn't as concerned about those between the two of them, despite the kinds of horrors they had seen, and had yet to see.

All this time was precious for the both of them, even if Sasuke was five years his senior, and Obito so young - spending time with his brother and cousins was valuable, if strange in the circumstances.

For now, with his back pushed against it, he held the door open for Shisui.

He had only asked to go ghost hunting out of boredom; cooped up inside having to heal from all those wounds made for a very bored ninja. The offer to go outside for a walk was promptly accepted, and Itachi's little gesture of holding the door open for him made him pause in his tracks, look, and then roll his eyes.

Shisui passed right through, huffing just a little, annoyed at himself for not healing as fast as he'd like to.

"So, where're we going?"

Little did he know what had been on Itachi's mind, that it involved him and his death at all.

He eyed the other opening up the second door for him, stepping outside nevertheless. "Yes sir." He was a little more than miffed about still being seen as an invalid.

And then there was a puddle of water lying just in front him, which is when Shisui stopped abruptly. "Throw your shirt on the floor, Itachi, there's a puddle and it'd get my feet dirty."

You were supposed to throw your shirt down like the chivalrous gentleman you are, Itachi, and let your lady pass. That was the effect he was going for, but the suggestion makes him scowl.

"No." He adjusted the strap on his sling. "I'm sick and tired of resting up, cooped up in the same room for kami knows how long." And with that, he took a step forward, right in the middle of that puddle, and walked on.

"Mm. S'good to be outside again." Perhaps he wasn't so much of a sourpuss anymore...

No, it was not enviable in the least. And now he was happily walking on under the sun like Dorothy on the yellow brick road. So happy.

"Looks like rain, but I don't care. We can play in the rain like we used to." That was when they were very little...

"Alright." It was only then that Shisui turned to face Itachi, waiting for him to catch up.

Shisui's moods were like the weather, on the surface. Inside everything was almost always in terrible turmoil. There were so many things he still thought about, his thoughts never really very far from 'home'. And amongst these thoughts was one that never really let him go: Death.

He had hoped to go quickly, but here he was, stuck in an alternate universe unable to die, unable to live freely either. Not with the ever-present shadow of death bearing down upon him at every given moment.

"It won't matter," he stated dryly. "It's not like I need to be in one piece when I get back."
