[ Whatever reaction Obito had been expecting, it certainly wasn't that. The one time he'd spoken to Elizabeth, she'd been kind and most helpful so to think someone would have such an averse reaction to her was surprising and puzzling. Not that he currently had the time to question it.

He was at a severe disadvantage here, he hadn't gotten the time to get adjusted to the fact he only had one eye now. His depth perception was gone and his coordination was, to put it mildly, rather poor. Close combat was something to be avoided as much as possible. So he had no choice but to jump back a bit to make sure that pick axe wouldn't come down on him as he quickly goes through the seals necessary for Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique.

It takes no time at all and he's creating a wall of fire between them and the appearing soldiers with the jutsu. It should buy them some time. ]
