Nothing Like... [OPEN]
Characters: OU!Mail 'Matt' Jeevas [
red_hot_stripe ] | OPEN
When: April 19th 1999
Where: Matt and Mello's apartment
Rating: PG-13 because Matt is known to curse at random
Summary: After the dead vanish and Matt gets the courage to go home, he takes his newly found kitten, Sophie, with him to introduce her to her new home.
Stripes. One could say that's how best to find Matt, what he loved most or what he looked best in. From now on though, stripes would be a word associated with Sophie E. Jeevas the kitten. Yes, he had given his kitten a middle name and stuck on his own last name as if she were a person but he had done that with the black cat he had in his last hell hole of a home. Zelda Samus Jeevas. Cute stalker cat she was.
Matt made his way into an empty apartment, holding the kitten under his shirt to keep her warm. He wondered when Mello would come home and what he was out doing, nothing was more important than meeting Sophie after all. Once inside the redhead closed the door, double checking that it wouldn't swing open with the smallest of breeze and carefully took the small grey tabby from under his shirt. Free from her clothing confines, Sophie hopped out of Matt's hold and started to roam about the apartment.
A bright smile found its way onto the gamer's lips as he watched his new friend explore and he followed after her, making sure this curious kitten did not get into trouble. Matt slid his PCD from his pocket and snapped a quick photo of Sophie, mid-paw swipe and forwarded it to those he knew would like to see her. Hopefully this would get Mello home sooner and maybe a friend would pop in to visit.

He got the message; Matt wanted him home, and with a little shake of his head, Mello actually went so far as to send him a quick text: Be home in 15. Don't let it piss in the house. Had to keep up his grumpy reputation, after all. And the apartment was already worn out and old enough without having to smell.
True to his word, Mello came back when he said he would, opening the door and slipping inside with the soft creak of leather and old hinges.

Matt hadn't bothered to reply, he knew the older would be true to his time frame and Mello did live here too after all. Sophie had gone to explore the kitchen, a few pans had been knocked over that had been long since abandoned in the cabinets under the stove years ago. The entrance of the blond had almost gone unnoticed.
Scooping up Sophie, the gamer headed to the front door and smiled brightly at Mello. "Welcome home!" Matt held the kitten in such a way he could move one of her paws to make it look as though she were waving hello, much like one of those 'lucky cats' from Japan.
Argh sorry for all the delay. Midterms are eating my liiife ;A;
Kicking his boots the rest of the way off, Mello stretched his arms about his head with the soft popping of a few bones and stepped forward, reaching out.
"Let me see."
It's okaaaaaaaaaaaaay <3333
"Careful... Don't mess up your leathers. She's a little squirmy when held again." Matt held the kitten out to the blond, careful not to drop her or have her squirm out of his grip.

Leaning down, the redhead scooped up the furry blob rubbing against his legs and held her up for Ritsuka to see better and hold if he wanted to. "You're welcome and thanks... I don't hear that much."

He wigged a finger at the kitten, leaning close before finally taking her gently into his hands, making a face as she batted at his hair, and laughing. "Why not? You are."
