Now the dark is taking over

Characters: Uchiha Sasuke [[livejournal.com profile] theloneheir] and Uchiha Itachi [[livejournal.com profile] fan_of_red_dawn]
When: June 18th, morning
Where: Outskirts of Nesreca
Rating: Um. PG-13?
Summary: Sasuke's seal has started to react after almost six months of being unrestricted. Itachi doesn't like this, and decides it's time to finally get rid of the snake inside before worse comes to worst.

Sasuke still didn't like this idea. Itachi wanted to out Orochimaru from him using what he assumed to be his ultimate doujutsu, but he still couldn't help but ponder the consequences. He knew the Mangekyou, with continued use, would render the user blind. He knew that, and he's been subject to it multiple times within the last eight, almost nine years. But what he didn't know, and what bothered him the most, was exactly how blind Itachi was without the use of his Sharingan.

It only bothered him because Itachi never told him anything. That was one of the few things that hadn't changed about his brother at all, even if they lost nine years of their lives together.

A flash of pain passed through as Sasuke sat waiting. He flinched, and just like yesterday, raised a hand to cover the mark. The pain was similar to what he had first gotten it five years ago, he noted. Ever since Orochimaru realized what he was capable of in this world, the flashes of pain had been coming more frequently, especially since he had made plans with Itachi to do this. He knew what Orochimaru was trying to do, but wearing him down so he could attempt to claim his body again wasn't going to work. He had overcome that just once, and he would do it again.

Yet that didn't keep the snake from trying. Another, stronger flash of pain caused Sasuke to tighten his hold on the side of his own neck, biting down on the inside of his cheek.

Itachi had better hurry up. Orochimaru was getting impatient.

He had been expecting it, waiting for it, actually. It had all been just a waiting game. So now that the time had finally come, Itachi offered that was still one part of his plans; to rid his brother of that accursed snake once and for all. Of course it was not with out its consequences. Itachi knew, for sure, that he would at least lose his sight after the deed was done, but anything else -specifically that of pushing himself when the illness in his lungs had progressed so far- he was unsure of.

So now he silently approached where he had told Sasuke to meet him. He had left his cloak behind because today he did this not as a member of Akatsuki, but as an older brother. This was what he could do for Sasuke, and perhaps the last thing he would do. A thought that had nestled into the back of his mind. But it was buried, tossed to the side for the moment as he stepped into place, facing Sasuke. his hands rested limp at his sides, his hair pulled back into his usual low ponytail, his bangs free to fall across his face due to the absence of the hitai-ate. All outward appearance spoke of a a focused calmness, ready to begin.

"Are you ready, otouto?"

"Let us get started then."

He wasted no time, straight to the point. The sooner Orochimaru was out the better, in his opinion. The snake had been to much trouble for him and Sasuke.

Itachi nodded shifting, everything about him settling into preparation for this. His legs moving into a better stance, his arms taut and ready to go on the offensive and defensive, whichever the might need first, and his eyes, along with that shift in his chakra flow, the Mangekyou spinning to the surface.

"Come. And do not hold back, Sasuke."

It was always the little things he noticed, like how Sasuke's eyes remained onyx, instead of the crimson red of his shairigan. Then how Sasuke started out with taijutsu. Hadn't last time they met it had started out with ninjutsu? Things certainly did change.

All the same, Itachi kept his brother in the center field of his vision, moving just as fast as he normally would, meeting, and blocking each kick and punch that came his way. His face remained impassive, watching with calculating eyes as they moved meeting each others blow for blow.

The chidori made it less possible to physically block the oncoming blows, she he moved, arched, ducked, and dodged, moving out of the way each hit. It wasn't until he saw the red bleed into Sasuke eyes did he start striking back, hard fast, despite the flinch Itachi has caught. Things needed to progress quickly, and smoothly for this to work, for both of them to come out of this as unscathed as possible.

"Then come at me like you would have before you heard everything from Madara."

He focused his eyes. He had already decided that genjutsu was to come next. To wear him down, and then follow up immediately with ninjutsu. He just had to make sure Sasuke wasn't going to keep holding back.

He tried, however the blade piercing his chest, or at least it seemed that way. But the pale hand that came up an pressed just under where the wound was. Slowly he looked up, holding out his hand, liquid crimson staining his palm, his expression thoughtful, for a moment.

It wasn't much more then a second later, Itachi's body twisting and warping, finally dispersing in a murder of crows, the rustle of feathers and the onslaught of caws filling the air.

sorry for such a short tag orz

He didn't waste much time, merely a few seconds, rushing forward from behind Sasuke, fingers blurring through seals. He was fast about it, taking a deep breath and exhaling, in succession, several balls of flame.

He could tell that Sasuke was fighting against the seal, and inner battle along with the one going on in the outside world. If it were not so important, Itachi would have stopped things then, but this needed to be done, now, before the snake once again attempted to take over his brother's body.

He could not say Sasuke's next move was not surprising, but he had been expecting near anything, after so long with Orochimaru. The former sannin had a vast array of jutsu, to which Itachi sometimes thought that could rival his own. So while surprising, and expected, Itachi moved out of the was, the push of chakra in his feet, moving himself out of the way.

His next move would have to be carefully planned. If not executed correctly, if not dodged correctly it could be fatal.

The chakra he had since associated with the curse seal was what made his movements lag for a second. But he watched as Sasuke held it back and continued forward.

It was short lived, though. So that when Sasuke stopped, Itachi had to stop himself as well, one of his hands coming up to cover his right eye.

"It is too soon. Fight him Sasuke."

He was hurrying, at least, as fast as he might. Which is when the hand slid away from his face, his eyes focusing. Not on Sasuke, but just a little behind him. He wouldn't let the first round hit Sasuke, instead let it come as a warning. So that the black flames that erupted just a way behind him, in the branches of a tree.

Itachi turned his gaze fully on Sasuke, hoping he knew that he was the next target. With what Orochimaru had taught him, Itachi jnew that there was something, anything that could be done to counter it.

Itachi was partially distracted with his own pain, the sharp throb that felt like needles through his eyes after having pulled off his first Amaterasu. It didn't deter him, but pushed him forward. This was worth the pain, and would be worth all he risked if he were successful.

When Sasuke glanced back to him, Itachi focused again, letting the second Amaterasu emerge forth, his hand covering his eye once it did, watching with his other to see it it was pulled off successfully.

Ignoring the sharp pain, the moment he saw Sasuke kick off the ground his hand fell away, going back into a defensive stance. It was simple enough, no matter that he could barely see out of his right eye now, it just pushed him to focus harder with his left.

He waited for Sasuke to get close, his fingers flexed and ready. The moment he was in range, Itachi would reach out and grab his wrist and toss him and his chidori away, just as he had nearly three years ago.
