So blood loss can be fatal....who knew?

Characters: Naruto, Sasuke, Okami and Yoruichi.
When: July 25th
Where: The streets of Nesreca.
Rating: Uh...PG-13 for blood and possible language?
Summary: Sasuke has been bitten by Kamui and drained near the point of death. So it's Naruto, Okami and Yoruichi to the rescue!

Naruto had been giving Sasuke CPR ever since he made sure help was on its way and shut off his communicator. He grew more nervous and upset the longer he repeated the steps with no result. No matter what he did Sasuke's breathing wouldn't regulate right and he could tell the Uchiha was fading fast.

"Come on you guys, you're supposed to be here helping me," he muttered to himself as he pressed down on Sasuke's chest.

Naruto stared down at Sasuke for a long moment, trying to figure out the best way to pick him up. It would be easiest to give him a piggy-back and a lot faster to. The only problem was getting him on his back. He scratched his cheek in thought and glanced at Okami.

"If you can help me lift him onto my back, I should be able to carry him the rest of the way."

Okami shifted, glancing down at Sasuke before nodded to Naruto, "Turn around." He leaned forward, grabbing Sasuke by the shoulders and pulling him up carefully. He helped get Sasuke's arms over Naruto's shoulders, "Do you have him?"

Naruto shifted into position and grabbed Sasuke's legs to push him into a better position on his back. When he had a good hold he carefully stood and grinned at Okami.

"Yeah, I got him. Thanks for all your help, I owe you one."

Okami blinked, laughing softly and shaking his head, "You don't owe my anything, what's the point in having medical knowledge if I can't use it to help people?"

He sighed softly, tilting his head and watching him, smiling, "You don't have to worry, I know you'll take good care of him."

He nods in agreement. "Yeah, I guess you're right. But still, if you ever need anything just ask." He adjusts Sasuke again and starts in the direction of his apartment but pauses after a moment. "Hey, you want to come along and help me with him?" It's not that he really needs the help but he'd like the company.

Okami blinked, shifting uncomfortably and forcing another smile, "Well...you see, that's going to be a problem, at least for the moment." He rubbed his legs, his hands visibly shaking now, "I used a lot of magic for the transfusion...so I'm weak right now. I could catch up with you in a little bit, though."

He blinked and looked at Okami with concern. He already had Sasuke to worry about and he felt bad that Okami had to use so much energy to heal him. "You going to be okay? Come with me anyways, at least then you have a place to rest and you won't be alone. It would be bad if we have to find a medic to fix the one we got."

Okami blinked before turning away and laughing gently into his hand, "All right, all right..." He smiled softly, "I don't die that easily anyway."

He pulled his strap over his head and took a deep breath, standing slowly and swaying. He winched a little, turning around, his eyes completely violet now, "Okay, let's go, he needs to rest in a bed."

Naruto watched him, frowning slightly and noticed how he swayed when he got to his feet. "He's not the only one who needs to rest." He gives Okami a pointed look before he sets off in the direction of his apartment. "It's not too far, but we will have to climb a few sets of stairs."

Okami smiled gently, managing to steady himself as he walked, "As long as I can lean against the wall or something, going up the stairs should be fine." He followed him, sighing softly and shaking his head, "Do you think the person who hurt him will come after him again?"

He was quiet for a long moment, as if deeply considering the question. He finally shrugged his shoulders as much as he could without stirring Sasuke. "I don't know. It's possible I guess. Sasuke tends to make more enemies then friends these days. But don't worry bout it. Whoever it is I'm sure I can take him." He shot Okami a grin over his shoulder.

Okami smiled gently at him, tilting his head, "He's lucky to have you as a friend, Naruto-kun."

He sighed softly, glancing up at the sky for a moment, "I may not look like much, but I can fight...If it comes to that, I'll help the both of you." He smiled gently, "Even if you may not need my help, the least I can do is heal your wounds whenever you get hurt." He shifted, adjusting his bag strap on his shoulder, "If you can't handle him...run, okay? I don't want this city to witness any more deaths." He smiled softly, "And I wouldn't want to lose a friend."

"Hey, don't worry about all that now. You need to rest first. We'll deal with all that when we get to it. Besides, it'll take a lot more then being tough to take me down." And if things got too tough he had Kyuubi's chakra to fall back on, though he never looked forward to that.

"We're almost there." As soon as he said that an apartment building came into view. It wasn't in the best of condition and like most of the buildings it looked as if it could crumble at any moment. Naruto lead them inside and to a wooden staircase that looked as sturdy as the rest of the place. "Make sure to watch your step."

Okami tilted his head, smiling gently and pressing the palm of his hand against the wall as he stepped onto the staircase, the wood creaking under his slight weight. He studied Naruto as he walked, shaking his head a little but still smiling, "I'm fine, you don't have to worry about me." He shifted, looking up at him, "Which room is yours? I'll hold the door for you."

Naruto lead them up two flights of stairs and then headed left down a long hallway of apartments. He stopped in front of the third door on the right side of the hallway. "This is it," he motioned to the door and backed up so Okami could get to it.

"It's not really the nicest place around but it's a whole lot better then some of the other rooms."

He stepped forward, opening the door and standing back to let Naruto carry Sasuke in first, smiling gently, "It's better than nothing, considering where we are."

Okami shifted, setting his bag down and sinking to the floor, pulling his legs to his chest. He sighed, resting his chin on his knees and closing his eyes for a moment. "Hopefully he wakes up soon..."

The apartment was on the smaller side. The main room was a living room slash kitchen with two doors on opposite walls, one leading to the bathroom and the other to the bedroom. Naruto moved towards the bedroom and dumped Sasuke on the bed, pausing only to pull some of the sheets over him.

"Yeah, I don't think I'd enjoy sleeping on a bench or something." He exited the kitchen and moved to the tiny kitchen area in the corner where he opened a cabinet and removed two cups that looked old and chipped but mostly clean. "He'll wake up when he's ready. Don't worry so much, Sasuke is pretty tough. Want some water?" He filled up the cups with sink water as he asked.

Okami blinked, blushing slightly and hugging his legs more, "I'm not always like this." He shook his head, "I guess without Akito around to worry for me, I'm just worry more."

He sighed, "I've never had to do a transfusion before...but, my brother had to do so for me a few years back." He examined his ring absently, "My body just remembers what to do."

Okami leaned back against the wall, pushing his bangs from his face and glanced over at him, smiling softly, "If it's not too much trouble, sure."

With cups in hand, Naruto moved to sit down next to Okami on the floor and handed him one of the cups. "Is Akito your brother?" He sipped the water and looked at his new friend with interest.

"Well, I'm not exactly an expert on whatever you did, but it looks like you did a good job."

Okami thanked him for the drink, blinking and blushing slightly, tucking his bangs behind his ear, "No...Akito isn't my brother..." He sighed softly, studying his reflection in the water, "I...guess we're friends, maybe more than that..." He laughed softly, "He's the reason I had to get the blood transfusion...but he's been worrying about me ever since."

He smiled, tilting his head, "I hope so, I'd feel bad if he was in any discomfort because of the transfusion..." He sighed, sipping the water.

"What happened? Why did you need the blood transfusion?" His voice betrayed his curiosity as he drank his water.

"Better discomfort than dead." He grinned at Okami over his shoulder.

Okami shifted, setting the cup down next to him gently, sighing and resting his chin on his knees, "It was...an assassination attempt...I don't blame Akito for it, I never did. His kingdom and mine have been at war for as long as anyone can remember, but a treaty was signed before my birth, in hopes that there could finally be some peace. His parents seemed willing enough...but they used Akito to try to get close to me and kill me." He sighed, rubbing at the scar on his chest, "It was raining that night...I was coming home when he attacked."

He smiled sheepishly, "I guess I was tired...because he managed to get the upper hand but...instead of killing me, he...just ran off. My brother managed to get to me in time." He shook his head, "I suppose I should hate Akito but...I don't."

He laughed softly, "I bet that he wouldn't let us know even if he was uncomfortable."

His grin faltered as he listened to Okami's story and couldn't help but think of the similarities between the way it happened to Okami and what happened between Sasuke and him at the Valley of the End. It wasn't something he liked to think about but it was disturbing how similar the two instances happened.

"...Wow. I guess it's lucky he had a change of heart or you'd be in trouble." He tried to smile but it came out noticeably strained.

"No, he probably wouldn't. He's too stubborn."

Okami glanced down at the ring again, sighing softly and smiling, "It wasn't luck, I tend to have rather bad luck." He shook his head, "Akito's always done what his parents told him, it was always expected of him. He's a good man, though...and he's been better about doing things that he wants to do."

He laughed softly, smiling at him, "You two...must be really good friends."

"Well, obviously something had to change his mind. If not luck what could it be?" He finished off his water and got up to put it in the sink. "It's good that he's doing what he wants. Everyone should be free to do what they think is right."

His gaze shifted towards the bedroom and he stared for a long moment before moving to sit next to Okami again. "Yeah....I guess so."
