Is totally not scared of ghosts.
Characters: Vera Solomon, Open
When: 24th September
Where: The Hospital
Rating: PG
Summary: Vera decides to go ghost hunting. Unfortunately, she's not too big a fan of the supernatural. At all.
The hospital is an old, tall building with plants slowly creeping their way up and through the walls and it just seemed to generate a feeling of eeriness, the fact it was raining didn't seem to help.
Vera wasn't even inside yet, and she hated it already.
She shifted irritably in front of the old building, hands buried deep in her trench coat pockets; making sure to keep a glare firmly fixed on it. Really though, why the hell was she feeling so uncomfortable; she'd been in old, abandoned buildings before, the only thing that made this one different was the possibility of ghosts...
...Maybe she'll stay outside for a few more minutes.

Usually, he went about these walks completely alone, never coming across another living scent. Completely left alone to the inner workings of his mind, to the gears slowly shifting and turning. But this day... well. This day he actually caught a scent - a living scent - and he even went towards it.
Perhaps it was curiosity as to why a person would be so near something so steeped in Darkness and evil, or maybe it was just the simple fact that since Roxas left... he'd been out of people to talk to - loneliness wasn't something Riku dealt well with, even if he did come across as antisocial at times - but either way, in just a few minutes he was coming to that old hospital, stopping a few feet away from a girl - her name escaped him, but then again... he never really asked for names - and tilting his head to the side.
"You're not thinking of going in there, are you?"

"What the hell?" Vera thought as she blinked at him, before recognizing him. Ever since Grimmer disappeared, Vera had been keeping to herself more often, and thus hadn't really been paying much attention to anybody over the network, therefore she didn't really recognize Riku at first.
The young woman frowned, wondering how to answer his question, since she couldn't use the PDA since he had a blindfold. She gave a sort of disgruntled airy sigh, she didn't want to go in, but she was curious about the possibility of ghosts and there might be information about the city or its residents in there...
...She just really didn't want to go in.

He froze when he spotted the two, lowering his goggles to rest on his neck to get a better look. Maybe he could walk past them and they wouldn't notice? ...When did he become so anti-social?
He took a breath, putting on his sweetest smile and walked over to the two, "I didn't expect to see anyone here, well..." His smile darkened playfully, "No one alive anyway." He paused a few feet from them, tilting his head, "If I've interrupted something, I'll just be heading in..."

Ahh, finally. It took him a while, seeing as he only knew her face from videos of when they were both children, but he knew her. The girl who couldn't speak, the one who communicated through text. No wonder she'd looked a bit frustrated.
"... I can see through this," he said to Vera, reaching a hand up to run his fingers over the dark cloth. Then, he turned towards Okami, frowning slightly at him. "You actually want to go in there?"
Granted, Riku wasn't scared of the place. The teen wasn't really scared of anything. He just didn't know why anyone would want to go into a place so run down and reeking of Darkness and death.

The young woman blinked at Riku when he said that he can see through his blindfold; why the hell was he wearing it in the first place, then? But still, she gave him a nod, relieved that she wouldn't have to try to rely on sound to communicate with him.
Vera then looked between the two males for a second, before deciding to grudgingly make her way to the hospitals entrance; best to go now before she loses her nerve.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, "I'm used to places like this."
He blinked, glancing at the woman and smiling sweetly again, "If I surprised you, I apologize. I tend to move quietly." He tilted his head, watching with mild interest as she moved to the entrance. He sighed softly, shaking his head and following a good ways behind her.

Here, he didn't have this luxury. And back home, not many did.
Regardless, he was choosing to stay nearly as quiet as the woman he was with. He may be perfectly able to use his vocal chords, he just didn't see much point to it regularly. Other than to grunt in acknowledgment to Okami's statement. But then... then they were moving into that house, and while Riku would want nothing more to just turn and leave them be... but...
Unfortunately, that heart he didn't deserve was still beating strong in his chest, so after just a handful of seconds he was padding after the two into the building before them, carefully sidestepping debris as he tried to proceed as carefully as possible.

Having now entered the building, she was in some sort of reception area, although it was hard to tell due to decay and debris that was littered around. It was also rather dark, despite it only being the afternoon (since there was no way she would come here at night); most likely due to the rain and dark clouds outside. Once again scowling, she fished into her trouser pocket until she could find her lighter and used that as a light source; albeit a not very good one.
She took a few more cautious steps in, making sure to avoid debris as she proceeded to have a look around.

He stood slowly, holding his hand out, a small orb of golden light appearing on the tip of his finger, lighting a good five feet around him. It flickered weakly, hovering over his finger and hanging in the air near his shoulder as he lowered his hand.
He dusted his hands off on his pants, glancing around absently before walking over to the far side. He looked back to the woman and Riku. He could get on by himself and the two most likely could as well, but having company wasn't terrible from time to time, but it wasn't like having Naruto around at least then they could talk to keep their nerves in check.
He sighed, starting to walk back over to them when he heard something. Turning quickly, his earring jingling gently in his ear, he stared down the dark hallway. A chill ran down his spine as he watched, still as possible, barely remembering to breathe. Nothing moved and the sound didn't come again. He looked away slowly, 'Just the wind.' He frowned slightly, fighting the urge to reach for one of his guns.
Okami shifted, looking to the woman again, speaking gently, "Why did you decide to come here?"
/SOBS random windbag ahoy ;;
Still, he followed the two of them further into the gloom, his hand twitching at every creak in the house, every chill he felt race down his spine. Souleater was always five seconds away from being called to his side, and he could feel that power and presence inside of him roiling uncomfortably. The girl he could keep track of, seeing as he had moved until she was within his sights. Okami? Well, that jingling of his earring made him simple to track, too.
Either way, now that he'd committed himself this much, there was no use in turning back. Okami was a doctor, that he knew, and he knew nothing of this woman's abilities. He didn't doubt that they knew some form of self defense to have survived longer than him in such a place, but he wasn't going to just leave it at that and walk away. He may not be a hero, but like hell was he going to just turn his back on people he might be able to save. Not if he didn't have anything better to do, that is.
Well, at least he was calm until Okami decided to speak up. Then he couldn't help but jump and turn a bit as dark purple fire - barely bright enough to give any light - formed in his palm for just a second. Then, he tightened his fist, cutting off the flow of magic, and forced himself to take a deep breath in and out before reaching up and pulling the fabric down over now pure gold eyes, forcing the Darkness inside him to retreat.
"Hard to believe this used to be a hospital," he muttered just after Okami asked his question, barely loud enough to be considered interrupting. He was curious to hear the answer, sure. But something about this place was unnerving him. He wasn't normally one for small talk, but anything was better than silently waiting for whatever was lurking in the shadows of this place.
Lol, it's alright~
"Ugh, whatever." Thought the young woman as she glanced around again, blinking in surprise when she heard the blond kid ask her a question and jerking in shock when she heard Riku jump; once again she glanced back at him, just seeing him pull his blindfold back down...wait a sec, were his eyes gold just now? After wrinkling her eyebrows in confusion but for now deciding to ignore it, Vera proceeded to write down her answer on her PDA, giving a soft sound of agreement to Riku's statement as she did so. Despite only being by the entrance, she could...feel that there was something wrong with this place and it sent unpleasant shivers down her spine.
"I wanted to see if this place was actually haunted. I also want to try to find any files or records here." This was the message that was written on her PDA when she displayed it to Okami.
hohoho
He caught sight of the gold for just a second, not sure what to make of it. Maybe Riku's eyes changed like his? It didn't matter, though. It didn't effect him.
Okami tilted his head, reading the message quietly and smiling softly, looking at her, putting his hand over his heart, "If you don't mind terribly, we can look together. I'm sure you can take care of yourself, but I'm not that well and it would be nice to have company in such an unforgiving place."
He sighed, waving his hand at the orb hovering near his shoulder as it floated over to the middle of the room, waiting patiently. He created another three more in the same manner as the first and they circled him lazily, their combined light managing to fill the current room.
He felt another chill slip down his back and frowned, glancing down the hall where he'd thought he heard something. Had it really been the wind? Or had it been a whisper? Or had someone come in before them?
"It would be nice if there was a map of this place...then we could figure out where the records were kept exactly."
no subject
"Let me guess: the doctors here weren't the nicest," he said simply, leaning over slightly as he let his eyes scan over the text before letting out a little "tch" and stepping back, letting the cloth slip down again to cover his eyes fully.
"Why not, I'm already in here after all," he muttered, yet despite his attitude he was sticking close, staying a little behind Okami and Vera, but positioning himself just right so that if anything happened... he could summon his weapon and jump to their aid. "Records, huh?"
Exactly what he'd been looking for, actually. For weeks now. His room was piled high with books, and he'd actually read all of them, but still he'd found nothing about that girl and her so called "master". But maybe, just maybe, something in this run-down hospital would lead the way to a breakthrough. "Let's go then."
It wasn't that Riku didn't believe in ghosts. It's just that his world didn't have them. They had heartless, that was as close to ghosts as they could get, and that was it. So... he wasn't very creeped out by the Darkness in this house. Unnerved, yes. But he'd felt Darkness worse than this before. Hell, he lived with it inside him.

Her mood a bit more soured at that thought, and she placed her hands back in her coat pockets, having turned off her lighter since Okami's magic orbs gave off enough light. There was nothing in the current area resembling a map, since most of the information plastered on the walls have since rotted away. And knowing her luck, the records were probably kept in the basement by the morgue or something.
Mentally steeling herself, Vera began to make her way into one of the corridors, her body tense and teeth grit. While she had better eyesight than the average human, the darkness of the corridor was dense enough to make it hard to see. But it didn't stop her from spotting a movement out of the corner of her eye and the following whispery sound, faint enough to make her believe she was hearing things, was enough to make her stop walking down the hallway and completely tense up. She was already starting to regret this.

He followed Vera, still careful to keep his distance, glancing around absently. He couldn't sense anything, but that didn't mean there wasn't anything around. This place messed with his head, body and with his magic. He shifted, reaching into his bag for one of his guns and taking it out, examining it. It'd been a while since he used them but they would never fail him, regardless of how much time passed.
He kept walking when the woman stopped, blinking and turning to look back at her, tilting his head, "Is something the matter?" He followed her gaze, tilting his head the other way. The shadows played tricks on the eye, but in this place...it probably wasn't just shadows.
He looked back to her, smiling gently, "Come on, the sooner we find the records, the sooner you can get out of here."

Unlike Okami, Vera had neglected to bring any weapons with her; they were normal guns and she doubted that they would have any effect on ghosts. So it seemed like she would have to rely on the other two in the event that anything does happen.
"Some soldier I am." Vera thought to herself glumly as she walked up to a stairwell. The young woman frowned as thought of what path to take; while she really didn't want to go down, lower levels were usually where records are kept.
So, once again steeling herself, she began to walk down the stairs, shuddering slightly from a chill that seemed to emit from the lower level.

He muttered something under his breath, one of the orbs floating ahead of them, disappearing down the stairs. He laid his hand on the railing, gripping it to steady himself.
He stepped in front of Vera a little once they reached the next floor, glancing down one corridor and then the next. Had it gotten darker? He shifted his strap to his other shoulder and tilted his head, "Which way do you think we should go first?"
