Summary: Youji wants to play with his present.



There was a loud 'thump thump thump' from the stair well, like the sound of someone falling down the stairs. That someone happened to be dead. And much to Youji's amusement, he might add. He dragged it out of his apartment with much effort and straining before attempting to ride it down the stairs. It didn't end quite like he thought it would, and he glared at the corpse. There was a fair sized bump on his head, but he didn't seem to notice.

"It matters because lonely people make the world seem colder." Matt dug about in his pockets with one hand, trying to find something to clean the blood off with while holding Youji down with the other hand.

"Lonely?" he repeated the word as though it were something foreign to him, looking surprised that the stranger would call him that. "I'm not lonely." He looked utterly bewildered by this assessment.

A clean tissue found in his jacket pocket, Matt held the younger's bleeding ear between it to get the blood to stop flowing. "Look lonely... Sound lonely... Even act it. The loneliest people put up the biggest walls."

"...I'm not lonely," he repeated softly, eying him curiously. He wasn't lonely...was he? "I don't have walls."

"If you're not lonely.. Then why do you look so defensive?" Matt let the hand holding Youji fall away to concentrate on the ear.

"...You're weird," Youji commented, side stepping the question. "What are you doing?" His ear flicked and fluttered under the touch.

"Yeah... You are too." Knowing he would be unanswered, Matt just let it drop. Maybe the younger would answer later. "Making the bleeding stop... No twitchy ears. It makes it worse." It was a gentle scolding, one not meant to be mean but to coax Youji into cooperating for just a few minutes.

"Why?" That didn't make any sense to him. If he'd wanted to hurt him why would he help make it better? "That doesn't make sense." He stilled his ear obediently, looking off with a sigh. "Will it fall off? My fingers were going to fall off, but I fixed them."

"Because... Open wounds lead to infection which leads to sicktimes which ends with deadtimes." The ear stabbing had be a reaction to Youji's outright disrespect, now with him acting slightly civil, Matt felt bad for his actions. "Not fall off... Ripped and pierced but no falling off. Should make an earring for it. Make it look like you wanted it."

Pierced. He smiled then, wondering if his blood looked as pretty as Soubi's had. "I pierced Agatsuma's hand," he said cheerfully. Surely Matt would find it interesting, since he'd done nearly the same to him. "But he didn't die. He came here, and went away again. I really hope Natsuo comes soon."

"People don't pierce hands for fun... What did you do to him? Did you hurt him like you hurt the other boy you mentioned?" Matt frowned a bit at the way Youji had just perked to life. Like he was a card or something... "Came here? Then gone? Where do we go and where do we come? Don't understand this maze..."

"He accepted the battle," Youji said with a shrug, "We told him to call for his Sacrifice, but he wouldn't, not our fault. I wanted to help Natsuo. I drove a nail through his hand, it was really pretty." He smiled at the memory.

"I dunno. No one knows. People show up, and then they disappear. Maybe the ghost girl eats them. She eats people now. Or she always did, and we never saw."
