[Kanda was tired. He had stuck close to the apartments throughout the past week, and he would be lying if he said he wasn't injured. He had poorly patched up injuries from bullets, things that could be taken care after he was sure the soldiers were gone.

He hid out in a partially collapsed house and was on his way back to it for the night (he checked in on Alma in the mornings, before he went out to fight), when something - someone caught his eye.

It was Alma.]

What are you doing out here?

Yu? [Alma peered through the falling darkness, but the exorcist's voice was more than enough to confirm his identity and the boy quickly scrambled forward toward his friend.

Yu was okay! So far as he could see at that moment.]

I was worried...

[beanstalk]

[Kanda couldn't help but let out a breath, moving to kneel down to Alma's height. One thing he knew was going to happen was he was going to get a hug. A tight, worried, Alma hug. (The pain was always worth his hugs.)]

We're all fine, if not a little roughed up. I promise.

[Kanda's prediction proved accurate, the boy immediately bounding over to wrap his friend in a tight hug.]

[beanstalk]

[He knows you too well, bitty. But that's okay, he's fine with getting glomped hugged. Hiding the slight wince, though, and just pats Alma's back gently.]

Really. I'm okay.

[alma_karma]

[Alma looses a shuddering sigh into Kanda's shoulder, his relief obvious in his posture.]

I'm sorry. I know I was supposed to stay in the building...

[beanstalk]

It's okay, Alma. I know you were worried.

[Since it's not as busy as it was when this all started, he can definitely forgive Alma for coming out here.]

[He pulls back, finally getting a proper look at Kanda. Not cool, man.]

... You're hurt.

[beanstalk]

[Busted.] It's not that bad, Alma. [Not yet anyway.]

[Alma will always call Kanda out on his stupid.]

But you're still hurt!

[beanstalk]

[Sob.] It can't be avoided at a time like this.

You gotta at least come see a doctor!

[beanstalk]

I will when all of this is over, okay? [He can't afford to rest for more than a night.] Promise.
