[It was no secret to Kiriko that he was nothing like other men of his squad - his kind disposition was more hindrance than help during wartime, he had no thirst for blood, no ill will against another race. And still the man is full soldier today, determined to protect his men in a cause he believed in. A combat medic once more, Kiriko carries a rifle in his arms and supplies around his shoulders.

Kiriko darts from place to place - watching enemy and ally with equal attentiveness. He must grab for the cross and dogtags at his neck before he has the strength to draw his weapon. Taking careful aim at a Credintian soldier nearby, a few shots to the head regrettably clear his path forward.

There's a moment to catch his panicked breath - and he grips his medical bag and sets off like a shot towards a friend nearby. No matter how difficult it might be to get to them, or to save them... No one is dying on his watch.

It isn't long before he finds you, calling you by name as he approaches.]

-How are you holding up?!

[Raven had been patrolling, and while she'd hidden well in the fog, it was also more difficult for her to see. So while she'd been down on the ground, she'd gotten surrounded. Not that she was that worried, as she'd managed to erect a barrier in front of her to block the strikes, knocked out one group, and was now about to focus on the other.

Then she heard Doc's shout.]

Doc...stay back for a moment!

[Her hood billowed around her with her dark energy, eyes-white as she worked. The Dark Energy dome protected her as she gestured--more dark energy sweeping the other group off their feet and removing their weapons. Dropping that dome, she gestured again--murmuring her mantra beneath her breath, to knock the rest off their feet the same way.

It gave her room, and while the soldiers were regrouping, she levitated, shifting and focusing. A large dark-energy raven silhouette appeared, cawing, as Raven sent out energy from her soul-self and astral-form. Seeking to knock the soldiers out, unconscious, not to harm them.

Meanwhile doing her best to keep part of her attention on Doc, and where he was, since he was obviously coming to help.]

[Kiriko's breath caught in his throat as he saw the soldiers advancing on her, and he hid himself, watching behind rubble. She was powerful... There was a reason Yukio had wanted all those who could use their magic to do so. To be caught in her power would be a horrifying experience for a soldier...]

[As they regrouped, a dark, protective fear stirred in Kiriko and he lifted the barrel of his rifle onto the top of his hiding place. He took his time aiming, until he could take out a few soldiers himself with a shot to the back of the head, even though Raven had shown she could strike most down harmlessly. What could he do? He could not stand to see any of his young friends be hurt, even if it meant killing.

But his trigger finger froze as he saw the "bird" swoop down, and he gasped.]

Raven...!

[Her astral form could be rather impressive, but Doc was not one she wanted to scare... Fortunately, she really was seeking to just knock out, unless forced otherwise, and with the retreat of her Corvus-form, she turned her attention to him. Still levitating, hidden in her blue cloak and cowl as always.]

I'm alright...I'm...sorry if I scared you.

[Floating closer as she spoke, she honestly hadn't meant to scare him, although she was glad to see he was armed, and he didn't seem hurt so far.]

...No, no. [He sighs a bit shakily as he looks at the knocked-out soldiers. It was... just a bit of a shock. He knows it was necessary.]

I'm fine. I'm glad to see you're okay, too.

[He wishes he could see more of her face under that cloak and cowl, to see if she's getting tired...]

[Nope, no getting to see that Doc. When they're safe again, then she can pass out and rest. Not before, not when she can do a LOT, and do it well.]

I'm fine for now. I...know they're coming to kill us, but...I don't want to retaliate that way if I can avoid it.

[It's odd, how she seems almost ashamed of that. But Kiriko knows some of what she can do, and it can't be pleasant to have a psychic sense of Empathy, when you can sense your enemies emotions and they die.]

[Rin stands with his back to Kiriko, attention trained on the now fallen soldier not far from him. His shirt is blood stained from what looks to be the exit side of bullet wounds to the chest and he's covered in smears of blood and mud hear and there from fighting. His sword is drawn, blue fire running down the blade, and there are two flames on his head looking much like horns.

Hearing the friendly voice he turns towards the doctor, looking him over with concern. His features seem to have taken a turn towards the more demonic with his elongated canines and longer pointed ears.]

Could ask the same thing about you doc.

[Kiriko is extremely concerned for Rin when he sees his damage from the fight, and is about to reach for his medical bag until Rin turns around. The shock causes him to fumble, dropping the pack onto the ground, and his jaw involuntarily drops. He tries to speak, and his accusation is more like a frightened squeal than a friendly greeting.]

You're a...!

[He swallows. Holy shit, not a good time to bring this up.]

I mean! Jesus... I'm fine! You look like hell!

Eh?

[He stares a second and then seems to remember just what he looks like. he holds his hand free of his swords out in front of him and shakes frantically.]

N-no! It's nothin'!

[He sheaths his sword and reverts right back to how he usually looks as he does so.]

Don't freak out, okay?!

I-I'm not freaking out!

[He's freaking out.]

Er... Guess you d-don't need medicine, then!

[A pause. He remembers the time that Yukio summoned some sort of demons..]

Shit.. Shit! Does Yukio do this, too?!

[He touches at one of the blood spattered holes in his shirt.]

It's already mostly healed. And I told you don't panic!

[Even though the sword is sheathed a few blue flames flicker across Rin's shoulders since he's so worked up.]

No! Yukio ain't like me! He didn't get it!

I'm not pa-

[The flames around Rin's shoulders cause Kiriko to fall immediately silent.

Get it? Get what? Whatever. Kiriko just nods. Nods and smiles.]

..Okay. Uhh! N-need something to eat? O-Or... you do eat, right? [He knows he shouldn't be acting like this, but he's having a hard time getting over that one of his acquaintances is a demon. A demon!]

Why would I cook if I didn't eat? Yeah I eat! It's normal friggin' food too! Don't go getting any crazy ideas.

[The fire dies back down and he jabs a thumb at himself.]

I'm the same guy I was before. Nothing's different. If it bothers you that much then we don't have to talk any more than necessary.

[Just checking! Though Kiriko does frown at his second comment.]

No, no... I was just.. surprised! N-No one does that, where I'm from.

[He goes a bit red in the face from feeling ashamed, and brushes his hair back nervously with a sigh. He is the master at socialization, clearly.]

Sorry! I didn't mean to offend you...

[Ahem. Kiriko puts on the best serious face and tone he can manage.]

..I'm glad you have things under control. You hungry at all?

Yeah well, it ain't exactly normal where I'm from either so I can't blame ya for it.

[Rin's not quite a master of social skills either. He scratches at his head. It has been some time since he's eaten anything.]

Guess so. Is now really the time for that doc?

[..Awkward. He's glad to change the subject.]

If you don't eat, you won't keep up your strength. I have to make sure everyone's not neglecting themselves.

[He reaches into his bag and takes out a rice ball he's wrapped in paper. Not the tastiest thing in the world, but serviceable. He shows it to Rin.]

Take it. It's not much, but it's something.

Eh? There's one for you in there too right? The same goes for you about keeping up your strength.

[A rice ball is just great to Rin. It reminds him of home to see something like that. He holds out his hand for it.]
