Summary: Elizabeth is sewing and pondering this strange new place.

Lavi had been kind and done as he said. He'd brought her clean clothes (which weren't at all familiar, but they covered everything, from head to toe, and she still had her corset on), and sewing to keep her occupied. She hadn't sat and just sewn since she was a girl. All that had been expected of her then, was being a good daughter and do as the King said, be a good and humble woman for when she was to be married off.

My, how things changed. Still were changing. She picked out a red thread, finer then anything they had in England, and threaded the needle. Her design was simple. A Tudor rose. A design she had done a hundred times. She knotted the end of the thread and pushed it through the material where it was held stiff on it's circle frame. Familiar, which was a God send in this place. Nothing was familiar. It was so easy to feel over whelmed, Elizabeth mused. But she'd faced worse things then this.

That and it was raining. Just like it did in England. So trying to conjure up a feeling of home, and of simpler times when so little was expected of her, she sewed.

Now here's a girl dressed in strange clothes, even blue jeans instead of a skirt. She cmes up to Elizabeth with a curious expression, shamelessly spying on what she's doing.

"You're sewing? You must be real good at it..."

She looks up, confused for a moment... A woman? Wearing... pants? That wasn't to include the rest of it.

"I- ah, well I haven't done it for awhile, but I figured it was something I could do to pass the time."

No corset either, and given the...freedom...of Becca's bosom, it seems she doesn't have anything on under that shirt.

"That's still cool, though. I sew sometimes. When stuff needs mended. I never learned anything fancy, though."

And Lavi had just found some rather good fabric on sale that would make a lovely muff or a scarf of some sort for the Victorian queen. Warm, white linen that would ordinarily be better suited for summer but was made so it was several layers thick and insulated grandly. Right now it's buried in the backpack he got around to getting once Sasuke had mentioned them as he makes his way to the apartment building.

He's surprised to see Elizabeth in the common room but gives her a grin, "Covering the common room in roses already?"

So she was becoming aware. In Elizabeth's own time, such a woman would be called the worst kind of Harlot. But Elizabeth was slightly bettered then that, and still uncertain about this place.

"Really? Your tutors didn't deem it important?" Well that was as odd as her clothes. "... But well I guess your father must of prided other things in your education."

"Tutors? When are you from, the middle ages?" she asked with a laugh. "I went to school. Sometimes. And my dad died when I was teeny tiny," she explained, though there was a haunted look in her eyes that suggested that perhaps the topic might be a bit sensitive if poked at.

She looked up and smiled. "Ah, Lavi. Got to make the place feel like home some how... seemed this would be the best way to do it."

The first petal of the rose was done, in careful little crossed stitches. She pulled away to look at it. "Admittedly, it's been awhile, and the whole thing might go crooked on me."

"... I've no idea what the 'middle-ages' are, but I come from roughly... 1556. Or at least that was the date when I left." She shook her head, looking back at her work and kept stitching.

"Mine died when I was 14. He was rather fond of telling me that knowledge was power, so as well as sewing I was taught languages, philosophy and history." She shrugged.

That stunned Becca a little, and she stared at the woman in shock. "The fifteen hundreds? No shit?" she asked, belatedly putting her hand over her mouth. "Sorry, you guys didn't talk like that back then, huh? I'm from 2010 and things are rea~ally different. I don't really know a lot of history or anything, though...I had better things to do than go to school."

She laughed. "Of course we did." She was known for being incredibly curt, and rude when she got in her foul moods. "My nurse gave me such a beating when I was about seven for calling one my maids a whore." She laughed. She was a spoiled brat in her childhood, but that really came from being a royal. Sort of. "And there is more then one way to insult someone. You don't have to swear at them to cut them with words."

Elizabeth looked at her sharply. "There is nothing more important then being well educated. No matter your rank, position or gender." She didn't approve of people skipping studies. "The more you know, the greater you are equipped to deal with situations life gives you, whether it be in politics or combat and every place in between."

Yukio came down the stairs with light steps, eyes focused on the entrance and obviously intending to go out. He was wearing the same long coat he'd been wearing when they first met, but with the addition of several pouches at the waist and a single pistol strapped to his back.

He paused when he spotted Elizabeth, offering a small bow and a polite "Heika" before smiling at her.

"Keeping busy?"

She gave him a nod in return, pausing in her work slightly. Quietly studying him, he certainly didn't look like a soldier.

"Yes, it's relaxing almost..."

She gestured to the gun. "Off hunting?"

Becca flinched when the older woman mentioned getting beaten. But she shook her head when she said she needed an education. "I know what life's gonna throw at me ahead of time. And not once did 'education' ever figure into it. Except for being brought to this place, I've been prepared for every single thing that's ever happened to me, and if they taught cooking and sewing and stealing at school, I might've bothered to go."

He nodded.

"Yes, actually. My brother is a rather good cook, but fresh meat is difficult to come by."

Bullets were also difficult to come by, but he was a good enough shot that that had yet to become a problem for him.

Elizabeth pushed needle through material again, the shape of the rose starting to take form. "Perhaps your education is lacking. We don't have... as you call 'schools'. But private tutors that are paid for. No fool can enter court, you see?" Which went unsaid that only the rich could afford it.

"I don't know how to cook, I sew because it is appropriate for ladies of rank to do so." She looked at her again when she mentioned stealing. "You grew up on the streets then, child?" It's not said unkindly. Just curious.

"... Is it?" She frowned thinking. Such things were not uncommon in the winter.

"I'm not sure what I can do to help you I am afraid. For some reason, my advisors never thought it a good idea to let me handle weapons." Something to do with her blowing their heads off in her rage, no doubt. Instead, she looked at the work in her lap, "but... if you need anything sewn, I'll be happy enough to do so for you."

"I will be the first to admit this place needs a woman's touch," it had obviously been decorated by a man and was very dark with the wood paneling. "It seemed brighter before it was repaired."

He moves over toward her but is careful not to get her dirty, he's been working construction like a good rabbit but he's also smelly. "It looks good for a first attempt and we can always clip the thread out if it gets ruined."

"... A tapestry would be the best thing I could think of. It'll also keep it warm in the winter. But.. that's something I haven't done in even longer, or really ever learnt properly, or have the correct equipment to do so." Musing on that, she lowered her eyes back to her little piece of embroidery. "Or paintings might be better. I'm not sure."

"Ah, yes, probably. Until I get the hang of it again, it might take me awhile." She laughed, then gestured him closer. "Look at you, you're filthy, have you been working?"

"Everybody goes to school when I'm from. You have to, or your parents get sent to jail for neglecting you. Unless your parents can prove that they're trying and you're just a delinquent who sneaks off. That'd be me, except I have a good reason for it. We had a home, but we were super poor and sometimes we almost lost it cause of money. If I didn't steal, me and my brother didn't eat," she explained, surprisingly candid about her home life. She watched the rose take shape on the fabric, seemingly fascinated by the idea of embroidery.

"So when most kids are in school, I'm sneaking around stores trying to get dinner together, or cooking ahead so Alex'd have something for dinner when he got home from school... I mean, I know school's important. I make sure Alex always goes. But...that's cause it's different for him. His life's gonna be totally different to mine."

"Yes. It's difficult with the weather, and most animals don't seem to like coming this far into the city."

Yukio moved closer to peer at the sewing in her lap, coming away impressed. He'd never been one for such things, himself. Patching a simple tear was one thing, but complicated decorative pieces were another matter entirely.

"Thank you for the offer. It can be a challenge to keep things in one piece around here."

"I do not think that we could even get the equipment in here without them noticing from Credinta. That sort of thing is not easy to put together." Not that he doesn't agree that a tapestry would be nice in the winter, he'll have to look in the markets for thick rugs at least. But until then maybe some white paint? Or pastel blue? Something else to add to his list of things to do.

"Alma would appreciate the painting, he would be filthy by the end too." Lavi nods, shifting his bag off, "I had a long day at the site."

She listened to her, taking in everything she had to say.

"It can be different for you too, do not resign yourself to one fate that does include salvation for yourself."

She hummed, pausing in her work as she watched the girl watch her. "Would you like to learn? Not every skill need be for necessity. I always found it pleasurable to create things with my own hands. It's something that is frequently denied to me once I became Queen."

"Yes I did not think so." She tapped the sewing frame. "This is easy enough to conceal, a loom? Not so much." She grinned briefly.

"'Alma'" whoever that was "paints?" She looked at him seriously a moment, "Come here, you look like a stable boy." Then started digging around for her handkerchief, forgetting about her sewing for the time being.

"No they don't, unless their is food for them. But I trust you will stay safe?" Her concern was genuine, she knew how frequently things could go afoul in hunting. All it took was getting corned by a bear or something such.

"If you do it well the first time, it'll seldom need any kind of repairs later." She smiled at her work, "But I suppose in a place as hard as this, one becomes hard on your clothes."

"I don't even want to talk about fate," she said with a huff. "I can See the future. Never wrong, and can't change what I See. I learned that a long time ago--trying to change it just starts a chain reaction that makes whatever you're trying to change happen anyway," she said with a sigh, then crept a little closer to eye her sewing.

"But learning that would be cool...I could make my clothes look all pretty that way... And it sure is boring around here."
